Which would you prefur? The Uni Version or the K&N? Whats the up and downs for each and if i was to get the Uni would a outerwares work on it? Thanks

id go with the uni with noss flange man. i dont like the k&ns really. i just personally fell that there really not made for the off road at all. ive heard that it needs to be cleaned very often and its only problems later on. not all cases are like that but ive heard nothing wrong with the uni.

Id have to say go with the uni for the long run. its all up to which you like better

the only downside I found with the uni(and any other foam filter) is that they are a pain in the ass to clean and re-oil. I think they do a better job of catching the smaller particles of dirt, and they do go longer between cleanings than a k&n.

K&N, I have worked on many motors with K&N filter(s) and have found no detrimental effects caused by it when they are oiled and installed correctly. The K&N filters with Outerwear are very easy to clean and flow better. The foam filters do filter better but at the cost of HP; i haven't found anything detrimental from the two.

K&Ns and Foam need to be cleaned regularly in extreme conditions to keep them flowing nice.

Sponges are used to clean your nuts and K&Ns go on motors ;)!

I second the K&N with a Precharger, been running one for a while, no problems to speak of, very easy to clean and oil with the K&N Recharger kit

Back when my friend had the same mods, I would still kick his ass with the my uni on, very little difference if any at all. The only difference is that his quad would be running rich by the end of the trip from the stupid band-aid filter plugging up. To make the uni even better drill a line of 1/4" holes in the back of the air box. 8====>K&N<====8

K&Ns are Dyno proven here at our shop to make more HP :-D!

Where the hell do you have room for a Dyno in the shop??

You guys are tripping over each other in there!!

k&ns have the horses but dont have the balls like the uni. uni is more rugged and durable straight out

We are comparing the wrong uni filter to a k&N. Most people run the dual stage uni's, and yes these prolly do not flow as good as a k&N. But uni's single stage pod filter is only one layer of foam, i find this to be a great filter when combined with an outerwares prefilter. If i had to bet, i would say they would flow about the same if not more than a k&N. K&n filters have one weakness when compared to a Uni. A uni Airfilter can take air in from all directions, sides and back. The K&N can only take air in from the sides. Both are equally good filters offroad. But i can buy 3-5 uni pod filters to one k&N and not have to worry about it falling apart or getting wet, and i can wash the uni and airdry it with the compressor or a low heat hairdryer and be ready to go in about 10 mins. But i guess thats just my opinion.

The pro design uni is tits, just like you mentioned it is the sigle layer with the thicker outerwear filter. Compared to the K&N that filter is *******, I pity the foo' with the K&N! ;D

I just ordered the pro flow k&n kit with outerwears so you might as well pity me box ;)

You'll probably need the pro design uni, it has a oval shaped flange. The pro design uni rocks, you'll be very happy you got it.

You will pity me from behind sir.

How many times can you recharge a K&N filter before actually having to replace it....
Also, has anyone tried using the No-toil for cleaning your filters (obviously not K&N)? I haven't messed with it, but it seemed pretty cool.

The clamp on k&n's will probably outlast your quad, I think they are covered by k&n's million mile warranty. I've heard that the drop in k&ns only last about 5 cleanings before they fall apart.

I have oiled my filter with no toil but haven't cleaned it yet. I'll let you know how it works when I do.

I'm guessin' I'll probably go with the Pro Design K&N from Rockymountainatv.... but then again it'll probably be a few months before I get to that point.... Will be watching this thread though to see what other arguments are out there for Uni filters and so on...
