Hey ya'll, anyone got any tips on widening your bike?
I want to make my z an mx bike, so widening is a must, I dont have the money for a-arms and an axle right now, so thats not an option.
I have the shocks upfront that makes the front a little wider and lower, smaller tires all around to lower the ride hieght, wider rims in the rear, and me and my bud are gonna try adding his yfz shock on the rear of my bike to lower it and add more travel.

What exactly is off set rims? I heard it makes the bike wider some how.
I dont want to deal with wheel spacer, those things are crap and break when you jump.

I forget hthe exact numbers in detail...........
But you can order rims with the offset that is available. When I ordered my douglas rims I got an offset that was completly reversed compared to the stock rims.
So it was basically the same as flipping them around, but htey werent flipped.

Say a front rim is 6 inches wide and normally has a stock offset of 2 +4.........the 4 is on the inside and 2 is on the out, so if ya wanted to widen the bike you would order a offset of 4 + 2

Im pretty sure that was the way it worked. Dont quote me on it though!
Double check it .............

My quad is 2 inches narrower than a new lt450 and All I did was flip the front and back rims added new valvestems to the fronts put raptor shocks all around and bought a lowering kit from ebay. Thats the cheapest way unless you fork out money for a new rear axle and a arms If you wanna set your quad up for mx you have to have money thats just the way it is. Spend the money do it right if your gonna race it. Ill probly never race my quad that why I went the cheap way plus If I dont like it I can just flip the rims again and Im not out a $$grand for new a arms and axle. Just remember if you race it you break it thats the facts. your gonna need alot of cash to race especially if you wanna be competetive. Best bet would be to do what you can and save your money untill you can afford it. Or Rob a liquor store!!! J/K

Thats the thing, Money controls everything, I just dont want to do everything half ass, I checked and my dad set up my rear rims to off set, and the previous owner had the front rims off-set( probably did the rear, dont use those rims anymore).
So this is basically as wide as my z will be for a while :'(

get a cheap lowering kit off ebay....get the one that bolts to the bottom of the shock not the top

I dont want to deal with those kinda things, Im not a fan of lowering kits, and I've been getting faster, and jumping much higher and farther then i thought i would, so a cheap lowering kit wouldn't last me too long. Which i why i posted this thread, maybe their are some ancient chinese secrets out their :(

How could their be any secrets? Wheels and a arms are just aobut the only things you can change to add width to a machine.

Wheelspacers are your best best, if you buy good ones your should have to worry about them breaking, since the design uses solid pieces of billet.

Yeah, but i just wouldnt feel comfortable with wheel spacer's, after you see someone's front tires fly off in person after his wheel spacers break, It kinda get's ya paraniod :-/

if your wheels are offsetted allready then idk... maybe just throw some fullflight arms on there?

i think they are cheap for a +2 arm set and hold up well.

your best bet is just to save up man...theres a huge list of part outs goin on a z400central.com

check out their classifieds for some good deals.
