wiring cdi box

i have an 87 yfm350 and bought it without seeing it run. so far i have tried starting it and get no spark. with a bit of looking around i changed the wiring harness, and got a different coil and stator from spare parts but still get no spark. i got another cdi from ebay but am hesitant on wiring it up due to it having a different color combination to its wiring. they said the cdi came off a 91. does anyone know the wiring configuration difference between the two. or can anyone give me some other suggestions?

91 wont work with a 87

are you sure i think its just the plugs that are different but i could be wrong so i'll look in to that

I mean it's not a plug and play. Talk to the Yamaha dealer about slicing it in. I'd just get the right one for the year

wiring is 87' 88',90'-95',96' to 2000,2001' to 2004'

thats what i was getting at. is there anyone who knows how to splice the wiring harness on the cdi to work with the bike. thanks everyone.
