This is an odd ball CDI. I am finding out the 96 was a only one year ignition set up with as many as 4 variations. No other years will fit. Most parts places don't carry a replacement. 
The box is silk screened as follows:

It has 2 connectors for the stator and 2 for the wiring harness and a coil wire hook up and ground wire.
