Ah **** well I guess I'm no help then! I didn't know they were different....

I thought it was 87 then 88-89 same then 90-95 same then 96-01 same then 02-04 same according to book I think? if I remember right

96 has the same stator plugs as 97-01 but they changed the CDI and harness when they added the parking brake switch. The 96 CDI has wires off of it 97 -01 the harness plugs into the CDI.

My book is at work but I'm pretty certain that 87 and 88 are same.

According to the part numbers 87,88,89 are all different. 90-95 are the same. 96 is a one off. 97-01 are the same and 02-04 are the same.

Well I've used a 90 on a 89 with no problems.
