Hey,
I am new to the forums and am going to go for the oil cooler MOD. I have spoken with a 10+ year ATV mechanic, and his personal opionion is that the clutch side set-up would be way more benificial than the big bear. That said I am not confident in my ability to not F it up lol . I am after a clutch side case in good condition pre- drilled, expoy filled, and fittings attached. This will go on my last remaining quad, so I need this to be "professional done" I will get the other parts myself. If you have one or know of one please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Welcome to the site! Enjoy and learn.

I really should start to buy these covers, tap, block off and then re-sell them. I could make hundreds!

Best bet is to buy an extra on on ebay for cheap and do it your self, it really is pretty easy and the tutorial on here can walk you through it. If you mess it up, no worries, you still have the stock one on your engine.

Why you wanna do this mod if you don't mind me asking? You ride in the heat a lot or have some engine mods?

I live in Michigan so my Summers are the same as yours (assuming you are still in ohio) I do plan on several MODS for the engine but am new to ATV's in general. I bought a HMF sport series exhaust, K&N air filter with prechrarger, and am waiting for my exhaust to come in so I figure out jetting. My main concern was this will also be riden by my wife and she rides slow, restricting the amount of air that passes over the engine (also though not requiring it to heat up as much) Anyways seems like a good thing to have!!!

thats what i thought too deadlast... but it seems no one ever comes thru with the buy.... i have an extra clutch cover that i could easily mod for you... how much are you looking to pay? i ship USPS priority mails so shipping for you would be about $10... im thinking about $50 shipped would be fair?

$50 shipped is fair..............Do you have a paypal??? If you can include the fittings already in, so everything is ready to go, thats what I am after. I will come threw with the buy lol I can pay you before you start..........

hahaha i honestly didnt think you would just on that like you did.... i had a hell of a time findin the right fittings when i did mine... let me make sure i can find the fittings again and ill get back to you... ill have everything already to go but youll probably need a gasket (unless you manage not to destroy yours (its gonna happen)) ill pm you when i get my ducks in a row (hopefully ill get everything squared away tonight)

yeah i texted the kid who's dad owns the hardware store where i found them, they are only open till 5 and i get off at 5 (10 miles away) hopefully he texts me back and will hang around for 15 minutes after work

anyone else interested in a pre-modded clutch cover? i only have 1 stock cover currently but i could get somemore and mod them for you guys... it wouldnt be pretty simple to bang them out a few at a time... let me know!

Hey,
Got cover today and looks great. He even cleaned it and primed it, so I can paint it a custom color. I noticed he (Bomber315) said he was able to make more. I have not actually hooked it up yet, but it looks great. Price was more than fair. Anyone too chicken like me to drill your own holes,,, Bomber315 is the way to go!!! Thanks a lot man!!!!!

hmmmmm i dunno really here is the breakdown.... it cost me $5 for the fittings, ~$10 for the stripper & primer used, $20 labor, and $11 to ship it... I sold that one to brett for $60 (which truly after paypal was $57.96) which means i charged him $11.96 for the plain stock cover... hahahaha no wonder he was so excited hahaha im not looking to get rich off of these things so if you guys get a cover to me along with a $50 bill ill drill, tap it, strip and primer it and send it back... if you dont want it primed send a $40 bill.....

brett the primer didnt rub off the part that says yamaha did it? i was a little worried since the flat rate box didnt have any extra room in it...

note to other guys: these will fit in the medium(i think) flat rate box from USPS with just a couple of newspapers crumbled up on the ends and wrapped in 1 or 2

if you guys wanna buy these off of ebay and have them shipped directly to me let me know and ill give you the shop's address that way you dont have to pay shipping twice (i think that is legal and trustworthy)

hmmm on second thought i should actually charge more because those gaskets are a major PITA to get off and i probably had more than $20 worth of time into it... but like i said im not looking to get rich off of it... just looking to help out

on third thought i can also go to advance auto and but the rest of the stuff you need for a "complete kit"... let me know and ill make up some kind of price on that hahaha

phew! i was a little worried but i had to try to make at least some money off the deal hahaha... the next size the PO had was huge

im interested

how much u charge me to do my side case ....ill ship it to u

and ill buy all the other stuff myself

pm me a responce

thanks

yeah, I used the same type of stuff, its called liquid steel and come in the same type of tube, you ball it up and shove it in the hole and use a small flat head screwdriver to pack it smooth. Let it harden and the pressure test it.

yep you got that right deadlast... so right in fact i was thinking the stuff i used was actually called liquid steel but whenever i searched on google for it (to provide a link here) i didnt find what i was looking for....

then i use the good ol' air compressor and/or my mouth to pressure test it and make sure it is good..... ok start the jokes about me blowing my clutch cover... i deserve it hahaha
