Right behind you!
As most of you know thats have been on here for a while know that i rebuild my engine and put a bunch of **** on my warrior. Well now that everything is on it i cant get it started for some freaking reasion. Ive done everything i could think of, tested the solenoid, tested the starter, tested the start button, tested some wires and i even replaced the cdi, nothing worked. I have another wiring harness for it that i also bought, im gonig to try and see if that works. The only thing that works thats electrical that i didnt mess with is the lights and thats why i for sure thought it was the cdi becuase the lights are the only thing that doesnt run threw the cdi. Its just ******* pissing me off to an extream .

But im spending all of tomarrow after school working on it :p so if you guys can think of anything that i might of skipped over while putting on the harness that i should check to see if its on correctly or even on just tell me.

Yeah it turns over and no im not getting spark, I think i skipped over a gound somewhere. I think its the clutch switch ground, Would that stop everything from working becuase the start switch, key switch and everything run into that. Im pritty sure i remember tucking that back into the plastics to get it out of the way while i pluged in something else, i think i forgot about it and never put it on.

but the lights also hook into the clutch switch so idk why they are working. If you have a manuel close by its a 1999 and im just looking over the wiring digram just to see if theres somthing that it could be. help!

I know this might sound dumb, but I was really confused when mine also didn't get spark, but everything else was perfect. Turns out my coil was grounded in the wrong place and the spark energy just went to ground.

OKay even if im not getting spark why is non of the switches working? If i bypass everything from the battery to the starter with a wire it turns over. But if i try to press the the start button it doesnt do anything. I know the start button works, I know the starter works, i know the battery is good, and i know the solenoid is good too. I havent checked the spark since i last put on the new cdi but i would much rather get the buttons working first becuase it would be much easyer to check the spark from there becuase i could just turn the engine over with pushing the button instead of bypasssing eveyrhting.

Well, you'll just have to trace from the PDP, to the fuse(s), through the harness to the starter button, and any adjoining relays. Its clear you have a short or a broken connection somewhere, or a bad relay.

Always start at the beginning (i.e. where the power is drawn from), and follow the electrical path to that specific device/button, and follow it to ground from there.

The real question here is what would cause the engine to turn over..
Can you hear when you turn the key on the solenoid click on? Do you have power to the relays?
Heres some things to look for... just go down the list and check each off as you go that way you know.
Battery is good.. Connections good.
Fuse.
Main key switch.
Main start switch.
Engine stop switch.
Clutch switch.
Starter motor.
Starter Relay.
Starting circuit cut off relay.
Neutral relay.
Neutral Switch.
Reverse/forward Lever switch.
Lastly wiring.

It was the freaking clutch switch. I was soo freaking pissed after i put that who other wireing harness on and it was just that stupid wire. It makes everything shut off. But it runs now but i have a problem. I had it running for like 30 sec. for the first time since i rebuild the engine and its smoking off the top end. Idk what it is. Is that normal or what?

No its not comeing out of the exhaust its coming off the head, i think its coming out of the valve covers but my bro thinks its just comeing off the head itself

run it some more.. it's going to smoke a little from the oil build up and that run out of it when you were working on the engine. Just let it run and don't let it sit and idle.. rev it up a little bit keep the rpms a little higher at around 2 grand or so.. No constant speeds and don't go and heavy load it right off the batt.

+1

You might want to take the oil plug out of the top of the head (has the copper washer on it) I believe it's a 8mm bolt.. That way you can see if you have oil pressure to the top end.

okay i checked pressure and it has some. Then i just let it idle and i reved it some every sec. or so after about 2-3 min of that all the smoke stoped, it was some sort of burning oil. But it runs soooo good, there was no smoke coming out of the exhaust which i was amazed with. The valves are a little load but i think its becuase of the cam that i have in it. The only problem right now is that one of my oil cooler hoses are leaking, its not that bad but enough to piss me off.

This is probably the happyest day of my life. I dont think ive ever had a smile on my face as big as i did when i rode it around the yard and in the rain. QOTM here i come.
