i again got bored so i got to tinkering with my xbox. ended up flashing the dvd drive to play back-up disc's. VERY simple to do after i figured out the right program to burn slax ( a version of linux) to a cd in a ISO image so that when i hook the xbox's dvd drive to the computer via SATA cable it would boot from the cd drive in the comp it would dump the xbox dvd drive and cause it to enter "mode B". restart the comp and let it boot to windows (mode B lets a regular computer find the dvd drive) then used a flasher program to flash the drive and reload it with IXtreme firmware.

if anyone would like to do this PM me... it's NOT illegal.

nope. done been online. Microsoft cant tell if the drive has been flashed. like i said... perfectly legal and nothing Microsoft can say/do about it.

game disc's waer out if you play a **** load like i do... so make a back-up of your disc and this lets the xbox dvd drive read the back-up

Hey I've gotin into modding stuff but never really messed with my xbox. Ive got a psp thats all modded out. But dont know anything really about xboxs....gamer tag=xXx6 COBRA 9xXx

You can kinda do same thing with the wii, but you hack it instead of modding it. You can install stuff to run back ups or even run off a eternal HD that you have your games loaded on. But most guys don't do that since it goes against piracy plus its more or less fail and if you update at the wrong time you brick your wii.

i didn't "MOD" my xbox. open it up looks exactly the same. all i did was "update" the dvd drives firmware.
why would ya wanna do it with a wii? they suck lol i have one but i NEVER turn it on

lol well I don't really play it much anymore anyway, haven't messed with any of the other consoles. The only reason was with the wii I can get the old consoles emulators and play the old games, like the classic nintendo, sega, super NES, all those dunno if the ps3 or xbox360 can do that or not. Plus the homebrew on the wii has games that are made by home brewers that code games and then upload them for others to play some are pretty good.
