    Warrior YZ250 Engine Conversion

Okay Mathius nailed it. I dropped the needle one position and wham, no blubbery mid range. This thing moves now lol.

    96 Yamaha Warrior 350

lol Like I was sitting still. But if you close your eyes and rev a little it feels close.

    96 Yamaha Warrior 350

Well there is one way to make it ride like a dirt bike lol. But that's a lot of work. The last time I rode a 4 stroke Warrior it did pull well all around. But I had to tune it up and adjust the carb before it would run in the first place.

    Warrior YZ250 Engine Conversion

Its a stock pipe lol. I am seriously toying with the idea of an FMF system and rebuilding the top end at the same time. Problem is it takes about 4 hours to rebuild the pipe to fit the frame lol. I am having moral issues with cutting and re-welding a new FMF Fatty. I haven't done any...

    96 Yamaha Warrior 350

I would agree with Gen1Pat going from a 125 to a warrior is a massive change in convention. The 125s don't make real power until several thousand rpm and the warrior is made to grunt down low. I know from experience though a bad filter will kill your top end but help you bottom end, so I would...

I can't remember what jets are in the carb but I will investigate soon and see if maybe I am over sized for 6000 feet.

    Warrior YZ250 Engine Conversion

Its the stock carb of a 94 yz250. I think the jetting is a little fat but my gearing is off still as well. I was contemplating lowering the needle one notch and seeing where that gets me.

    Warrior YZ250 Engine Conversion

Still needs tuning lol. But I am getting there. I have gone out twice for long rides and haven't had a serious failure yet.

stop an oil leak when you cant see where its coming from

From what I know rtv silicone might slow the leak but then you would need to know were it is and clean the area first. I would just got to the local auto parts guys and buy a drain pan to permanently rest under the bike. Provided you don't want to fix the leak of course. Sorry bout the 5 0...

Stock everything on the YZ side. I know the gearing is close to the YZ overall gearing when you include the difference in tires. My wife tailed me in my truck on the way home and at 55mph I was pulling away from her. I never left Fourth gear, so I definitely think the gearing is too steep. I...

I have 13 tooth front and a 40 Rear with the stock YZ 250 case gears.

From my experience the two stroke use at least 50% more. Its the inherent problem of not having valves to stop fuel from exiting the cylinder before it has a chance to be burned. That and I was riding in a place were full throttle happens a lot but you never get out of second gear.

    Warrior YZ250 Engine Conversion

No after about 50+ miles or so I ran out. Sorry it was a joke about the little tank, I thought I would have a range similar to the YZ the engine came from. But my old YZ had a larger tank. Moral of the story was I had to walk several miles due to my bad reasoning skills lol. I must be bad at...

P.S. It may just be me but this quad is a lot lighter than a Banshee now. I can easily load it into my truck by just picking up one side at a time. Last night (when his banshee broke down) we loaded his quad the same way and barely got it into the truck with two people.

    Warrior YZ250 Engine Conversion

So had a long trail ride yesterday and I discovered a weak link in the Warrior YZ. The stock 2.4 gallon fuel tank goes dry about 5 miles from the truck lol. This bike runs great otherwise. By friend was riding a banshee and I had to wait for him several times. With the gearing it has I can...

Thanks everyone. Bolt in? Yes once you make all new brackets from steel strap and cut the exhaust up then reweld it. The radiators may not be permanent but I had them so I used them. Believe it or not I started on this swap late Thursday and was riding it Sunday, so if you push lol you can...
