    Loads of possibilities: rings is usually likely but you could have bad valve seating, warped head, busted gasket...this all depends on what lead to it getting bad compression ie did it happen fast or over a period of time If you haven't tested compression for yourself it might be worth getting...

    Get a piece of ally tube against the teeth and give it a tap in the right direction with a small ish hammer to unstick it (make sure you use ally or you'll trash the teeth. Mine did this when I took the bike apart and cleaned it, didn't re oil it so it was stuck when I put the engine back together

    I never used a specific tool. One time I used 2 lengths of wood bolted together and opened them like scissors but this need the jug off to get access.hmmm Still, loosening bolts could relieve a bit of stress

    Just out of curiosity...

    take time and invest in a decent set of feeler gauges for when you set the piston ring gaps. its not too hard to replace piston and rings, personally i wouldnt wanna pay a shop to do it for me

    if youre still tryig to get the jug off and you think its seized to the base maybe get the motor out and then back out the main bolts a little way to relieve some of the stress clamping on the jug?

    CJ, think i will get something similar to keep track of hours but i really wanted a rev counter with a needle cos i think they look awesome!! Hobbyguy, yeah i understand that the 4th and 5th wire are for a back light which you can wire to headlight switch so it lights up in the dark

    Ibjamm, I thought the same but I am just unsure what the 3rd wire does? Does it fix to the coil and then count the times the current is sent to the spark plug?

    Hi guys, Took the carb down and main jet was full of dirt. On another note, I went to a wiseco std 10.25 piston and cone filter and it seems to run pretty lean on main jet. It's got a 120 in it now so could someone recommend a new size who have a similar set up? Cheers Tom

    All of the above^ Also check oil levels and check for leaks. Once it's warmed through, drive it like you stole it to seat the rings to the bore
