Alrighty guys/girls

I Just bought and 02 warrior.
Mods that i know about are a DG slip-on- open airbox lid with K&N breather. and a jet kit that i know nothing about- I havent even busted the carb apart yet.

When the machine is cold or has sat for a little while it pops right off and starts with just a quick touch of the button. But after i have ridden it it cranks and cranks and cranks befor it actully will start.

Also it has a very bad case of idle fluctuation. I will hit the gas and it will stay reved up for a few moments but then idle right back down untill it dies, if i dont keep giving it a little throttle. I know the kid before me had a guy go threw the carb twice on it and they installed a new intake boot and sprayed around it and its not sucking air from there or around the head anywhere.

what should i set this carb up to. My elevation is right at 500 feet with a stock motor and slip on pipe with an open air-box and a K&N filter. 145main- pilot is stock i assume i couldnt get it out.

Does this sound like a stator issue or a carb issue???

thanks for reading everybody any info would be great
thanks again

Sounds like it could be a stator issue to me.

I found my wifes warrior was doing some same things, it turned out to be the intake boot had two holes in it.

the intake boot was replaced with a new OEM boot about a month b4 i got the machine. i also pulled the intake apart and everything looked good and when i sprayed the boot it never changed the motor Revs at all.

Stator! I had the EXACT same problem, tried replacing EVERYTHING (besides the CDI) nothing helped to the slightest degree. Put the new stator in, and WHAM started up like a champ on the first compression stroke!

As far as jetting the carb, you will need to go up a couple sizes, I haven't figured it out yet, I'm running straight uni filter no airbox, no aftermarket exhaust YET! but from what I've been told on this website and others is you will have to play with the jets and circlip setting on the main jet needle. Someone told me get the next 5 sizes up, al the way to the 156, and they are cheaper from the dealer than that dynojet kit thats floating around out there. but all of the settings should be fine between 0-3000 feet. Once you go above 3000 feet is when you will need to change jets, I'm at 1241 feet and will be using jets from 145-150'ISH for no airbox and stock exhaust. When I get my Full Yoshimura exhaust I might have to go above 150. but you will have to tinker with it.

One thing is for sure, its okay to be too rich, but too lean, and you run the risk of burning a hole in your piston.
