Got a "new to me" 1988 Warrior. I got no story on it and it didn't run. Kid told me it was a 1994 and it ran, lol. Compression was 75psi. Piston and top jug was cashed! I'll attach a pic of that carnage.
Is there common problems with these that should be addressed before I have a failure?
Here's a list of that I've replaced;
Top jug, piston, rear wheel bearings, brake pads, rear axle and accessories (bent), shifter, starter, battery, entire wire harness, ignition coil, stator, chain, sprockets, chain tensioners, chain guides, and steering bearing and seals. Going to replace the oil pump and clutch pack as soon as I get parts. Been fighting the front wheel bearings for 2 days now also. Is there anything else i should change out right away? I don't want to split the case at all. I have a new timing chain but the one on there looks ok. Any oil seals that commonly leak? Going to put zerks on the swing arm and rear axle hub. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Keep the original carb if it still has it. Clean and rebuild the original one. The replacements are kind of a crapshoot. Cheap seal kits are okay, but at least use genuine Mikuni jets.

Your piston and head show a ton of detonation damage. Usually from running lean or too much quench clearance. Check the piston to head clearance. Is that a cheap replacement piston?
 
Yeah honestly these things earned their reputation for being tough. At this age most of them want all the suspension bearings and bushings done and it looks like you already went through all that. Figure for a 35 year old machine how many parts you replaced that are originals? Most of them I bet!
Now the replacement parts are another story... you get 3 choices: used old stuff, cheap new stuff, and expensive performance parts. You'll kinda want to pick and choose whats good to go where, but if you get it right the thing should be good till about 2055

Looks to me like it had a broken ring
