1998 and 2000 Warrior motors the same?

I have a 1998 warrior with a blown starter and took out left side of the engine case...going to purchase blown 2000 motor for casing and starter...anyone know if these are compatible or forsee any troubles i may run into? Dont know too much about this kind of stuff, just starting out, so any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

Get yourself a clymer manual. You'll have to completely rebuild the engine to install the case half.

the guy im buying it from said the piston blew through to the sparkplug, said it was cheaper for him to just buy the new motor...so he had the blown one sittn there for a yr...and decided to just sell it

how much? cause if you only need the cases you can get some good ones off of ebay one sold last week for $40 and a brand new starter is only $60 to $70

Id look at the newer motor close. It would be cheaper and quicker to do a top end rebuild after making sure theres no pieces in the bottom end.

Or put the head from your 98 on the bottom end of the 2000 after of course making sure there are no pieces of the piston in it.

idk about him but i had a piston go on mine and the piston acually came up and hit the head and cracked it.

He said his starter blew the case on the side of his 98 so if he gets the 2000 motor with the blown piston he can swap his head from his 98 onto the 2000 bottom.

im only buying the motor for 50 bucks....so its still not too bad a deal if it has everything i need.

and that was an idea my friend had was to just replace the piston in the 2000 motor from mine, said it would be easier...thanks everyone for the advice and help...we'll c what the motor looks like when i get it.
