Okey boys, I need help with a birthday present for my bf. He has a 2006 Raptor 700r. I don't know much but I know the work he has put into it so far has been for protection. (i.e filter cover, skid plate maybe?) Anyway, his parents are getting him new HD or razor tires. Is there something I can get for the raptor that he would appreciate/need? I can't ask him cause I want it to be a surprise. Thanks for any help!

Depends on how much money you are spending. But we will be more then happy to help out. And I must add this is a first, but this is what we are here for.

If he doesn't have nerf bars already I am sure he would appreciate these.

The price might be kind of high, but they have built in foot pegs which are more comfortable and safe then the stock pegs.

Otherwise check out these other nerf bars:

Beyond that kill switches are nice to have just incase you fall off the quad this will kill the engine and is only 22 bucks.

Oh yeah one other thing I just thought about. If he doesn't have insurance on the quad maybe you could check with his insurance company for him and find rates on full coverage/theft. He may not use the insurance at all, but if something happens he would be very thankful to you.

Whats the difference between Pro-peg and regular pro-aluminum nerf bars?

Regular nerfs will keep the stock foot pegs in place, pro peg nerfs dispose of the stock pegs, and have a peg that is more comfortable built in.

If he's a woods rider then some hand guards he would also appreciate a set of hand guards, if the nerfs are more than you're looking to spend.

The regular nerf bars will not have a beefy footpeg on them. You would still use the stock footpeg. Which like I said before the pro pegs are more comfortable and safe. The pro pegs are larger then stock and grip better.

You can always go to Rocky Mtn atv www.rockymountainatv.com and put in the machine filter toward the top of the page to see what is available for his quad. Then go from there.

Just a few good things to have: skid plates, grips, aluminum gas cap (tusk are good and cheap), e-brake blockoff, pak-a-plug case. The list goes on...lol.

protection- nerfs, handguards, killswitch, boots, tusk gas cap(stops leaks), aftermarket rims (offset makes it wider, dont flip as easy and can take faster turns), bars (alot more comfterble than stock),

fun - pipe, jet kit, light bulbs (xenon are good stock replacement)

The peg nerf bars are slightly more than I want to spend. Are hand guards that common and helpful? I was leaning towards buying a kill switch and hand guards but I don't recall him having either on his Wolverine. Is that because the Raptor is sport? Otherwise, I'll go with a grab bar. What do you think of the AC Racing Aluminum 6-pack rack?...nothing like some drinks out on the trails!

The tether kill switch is a sport quad thing, so that explains not having it on the wolverine.

Does he ride on trails that can get overgrown or have stuff hanging out over them, or does he race? Hand guards are common with trail riders because they keep this stuff from tearing up your hands and arms as much, and racers use them too to keep their hands from being pounded by flying rocks from other riders.

The 6 pack rack could be hit or miss. Some riders don't like them because they look out of place on a sport quad. The raptor 700 doesn't have much of a front bumper, I think a nice aftermarket bumper would be a better pick than a 6 pack rack if you're not sure if he'd like it.

Hell, He should be satisfied enough with having a chic that is This into the sport. I would be, and that would be gift enough, lol.
Ok well I also think a bumper would be nice, an exhaust if he doesn't have one yet would be a nice touch.
But another use for the hand guards is also keeping a good amount of mud off of his hands while riding if you get the shield type, Acerbis makes some nice ones.

Thanks ;) He rides on trails/roads/mudding. For the hand guards I looked at the Acerbis. Would it be rally brush & dual sport, rally dual sport or multi? Sorry, it gets confusing with all these options!

Sorry it took me so long, hopefully his B-day hasn't passed yet. But I like the Rally Pro's with the spoiler, and the "Rally Brush & Dual Sport" one isn't that bad, But again I'd prefer the Rally Pro w/ Spoiler's.

Yea lol i cant believe your getting your boyfriend stuff for his quad thats sick!!

ya damn that would be great if i had a girlfriend who is that much into it... id say like some protection for his quad.... bumbers... Skids... handguards...
