Depends on if you want it fixed or not before you buy it. lol. I put and engine in it (2.8 v6), only had 110k on it. Customer drove it for about a week, then one day it would not start. Found that the carb went bad and flooded the crankcase. Drained and chainged oil and filter. Started up but has a slight rod knock. Has only run for about ten mins with the knock. I'm buying it off of him with the intentions of fixing and reselling to fund another project. Has a great body on it. Only some paint bubbling over the rear wheels, and a hand full of small dents on the bed sides. 4x4 works, has new clutch, replaced all gaskets except for head and intake when I put it in. Is a 5speed. Has a fiberglass cap, and slider window. Dark blue exterior, light blue interior, and the interior is in top shape other then the headliner. Needs the rod bearing (fingers crossed), carb, and front axle u-joints, that's IT! Even has a full tank of gas.

id fix it my self, i got a stock 2.5 xj engine and trans that runs. so how much for it pat?

I'd have to think about it. I can get atleast 2k when fixed maybe more... All it needs are those 3 items, and a sliding glass. Was just in our local junk yard today and they have a comanche in there with a good sliding back glass. The number I have in my head is 1k given the new clutch, VERY good tires/brakes/interior/fibergalss cap/everything works... Btw, a 3.4 v6 from a 93-95 camaro will bolt right in. Just need to get the flywheel neutrally ballanced.

I don't like the 2.8's that much, their to under powered. The 4.0 is the best motor they had for the MJ's, and XJ's..

i dont know but that 2.5 moved a lifted yj wrangler on 33s up to 75 mph so i think they have plenty of power! and that motor is rebuilt.

There's no replacement for displacement.. lol
Those 2.5's are a good little motor though, and the 2.8's are made by GM. It's not the worst motor they turned out.
But the 4.0 I6 is still the best of the heap for both torque, and power.
You also gotta remember that a YJ is way lighter than an XJ is to..

cherrokees are truly the best! love em! you should get another xj and do a 2 stroke engine swap! LOL!

lol..
I wanna get another XJ!! I shoulda never sold it. But it was burning oil, and it had cancer pretty bad.
I want one just like my old one, maybe with an LS motor in it?
