ok so a few months back i had my motor to start nocking, so i pulled it out and took it to the yamaha shop and asked them to install a hot rods 396cc +7mm stroker kit. a month later got it back and still was not right, so i took it to a real performance shop, to have them replace the cam and port and polish, and some other things, but i got a call from them today saying the stroker is not a +7mm, but a +4mm. so i looked on my box that the kit came in and the box says +7mm(396), so i called hot rods and they said they never made the +7mm kit, but i called around to a few shop to see if i could get some answers and everyone that has this kit in stock is saying they did make the +7mm stroker!!!!!! so what do i do

They did make it, they don't make it anymore. If you install a +7mm then you need to use the special stroker piston as well, with a +4mm you can use a standard piston.

The actuall crank is +4 but like hdale said.it take a special piston that adds the plus three to make it +7 so as long as you got the piston your fine

wrong, they made a both a +7mm and a +4mm, both use the same special stroker piston I called them back in April and argued with a tech guy until he looked back through the years and found it. these are things I posted on another thread with the same issue.
So I just got off the phone with hot rods. They told me that they haven't made the +7mm stroker since 08. I saw some on ebay still. Also the piston they use for their stroker kit started out made by CT then Weisco made them and now they are made by Vertex. Also if you want to run another bore instead of 84mm you will either have to have the piston custom made, or run a thinker base and gead gasket becuase the wrist pin is moved up higher on the piston. And I asked about hp gain with the +4mm stroker a stage2 cam and mild port. He told me 11%. That is crap, stock warrior is 22 + 11% = 24.72. Not worth $650.00(with cam) to me

yeah I had to argue with the tech guy, he said they never made one either, then he started looking back through the yrs and found it. It was only made like 2 yrs and they don't have a replacent crank (since it's longer made) if you ever have issues with it. and to me the increase in power to price of the +4mm stroker isn't worth it

If your looking for alot more power just get another bike I don't see the point in makeing these fast cause if you do then you got to do suspension and make it wider imo its just not worth it I.like my warrior cause its a pink and black beast it will take anything I throw at it if I want speed I steal my boyfriends yfz x

I love my warrior and its a allout bike and its not got much for suspenion but I'm guessing the 397 stroker would be a beast to ride!

another thing I forgot to post last night about the hotrods strokers. They have the same part number, don't know why they did it exempt for they stopped the 7mm and started the 4mm. So if you check the # on the rod it will come up +4mm stroker but the only way to know is to measure agaist stock

Thats my problem I dont have the stock anymore. All I have is a box that says +7mm 396cc

well you got it in a box, was it used or new?

Also, on a 7mm kit you'd have to have some case milling done, did that topic ever come up when you went to get the work done?

It came brand new and I was told that I didnt need any case work done. I contacted 4 different shops that told me there was no case work need to be done
