I have just finished rebuilding a 87 YFM 350 warrior for my wife, After the Pain staking task of finding a good stator I have it all back together. But the issue I am having now is the bike runs fine starts great and idles smooth. Once you hit the gas the RPM's go through the roof and does not quite. I have read a lot and consider myself fairly mechanical. I also had a buddy of mine who is a marine mechanic look at it and we can not figure it out. I checked the throttle cable and the choke seems to be operating properly. I don't know what else to check. I have also used a rebuild kit and cleaned thoroughly. I took a picture and I cant seem to figure out what needle this is and if it is supposed to just spray gas like crazy which seems to be making it run the way it is. If any one has an tips or information please share. Thanks.

that is called, throttle hang, and it is a sure sign of an air leak.

check the carb>intake surface, and the intake>engine surface, also check the rubber intake for cracks... you can even spray starting fluid around it at idle. when you spray where it is leaking it with rev up. (tho honestly i never have had much success with this, i generally find the leak before getting to spray)

I thought the same thing about the air leak and have changed the boot to the cylinder, replaced fuel line and new O-ring with the rebuild kit. Not saying that I didnt miss something but I didn't think that was the issues. I didn't try the carb cleaner trick because I ran out cleaning the damn thing lol. That wouldn't make the acc pump keep spraying would it. My understanding is that the acc pump will only spray gas between the time you hit the gas and the time it takes for gas to be pushed through the main jet. I am right in assuming that. So what im not sure about if that is correct is why does it keep spraying. I have not got in there and cleaned it out better to make sure the plunger (rod) moves freely. That may be all it needs if i understand the part correctly.

yeah the acc. pump is just that plunger, when you jab the gas it squirts a shot into the throat of the carb... it can only do this once and then you need to leave off the gas (at least mostly) for it to refill. With the carb on the fourwheeler, take the airbox off and the side cover of the carb... jab the gss and you will see how it works

That is what I did. I can see it spray but it wont quit till I hit the kill switch. If I don't that thing is just spraying like a B1TCH. so what would cause that? The black rubber boot is missing, could that be causing this?
