i have a 99 warrior. was riding this past sunday. rode all day perfectly fine. had it fifth gear about 3/4 throttle and it cut out like it ran out of fuel. my buddy said he heard a loud bang.attempted to restart it. wouldnt fire. sounded like it didnt have compression. checked my plug. plug was fouled. just replaced plug about 3 weeks ago at most. check for spark with a tester. do have spark. cleaned the plug, tried to start, wouldnt fire. thinking maybe the timing chain broke. was wondering if anyone could tell me what the compression reading should be. any help would be appreciated

I'm not an engine expert, but i'd say if your compression isn't between 100 and 150 you're probably looking at internal problems.

It's not hard to find if the timing chain broke, just take the cam cover off the head and look.

mine kindof did the same thing when the cam bearing went out, except i was just slowly riding and it went "BANG" and shut off. when i spun it over, seemed like the piston wasnt connected anymore.

here the cam needle bearing in the back of the head went out, dug into the head and stopped the cam from turning, while it snapped the cam gear clean off, and the exhaust valve was stuck open and the piston hit it, which made it seem like there wasnt any compression. best thing to do is like yamarider said and take the cam cover off.
