so i got an xr200r and it has bad brush scratches... I wana paint the plastics but as much as my big ole front fender moves, im really worried about it chipping... has anyone on here used it? is it good or junk?

idk it seems like it would be cheaper to paint it... what could i use to get the scratches out with? they are pretty deep... looks like sombody took fender off and rubbed on blacktop...

Even a good automotive paint with a flex agent Will only hold up so good on something that moves as much as a fender. Anything you use as far as a paint is concerned Will only be so good. I'm with Beastly, your best bet is to wet sand the plastic, start with a rougher paper & work finer, once you get the scratches pretty good just buff it out with a good rubbing compound. You can even buff it by hand if ya don't mind using a lil elbow grease. The thing is to make it less noticeable, you can do that with a paint job on a car w/o completely removing the scratch, believe me, I used to detail cars for a living.

can you inform me on what grits of sandpaper to buy?, also i printed off a honda logo and used a knife to cut out the black parts to make like a stencil... can i use just regular old rustoleum or some sort of regular spray paint or will it "melt" my plastic?

It won't "melt" the plastic but it Prolly won't stick very well. If you have a local auto paint store you could hit it & tell a rep what you have in mind & he can help. ALOT of times they can even mix up what you need & put it in a spray can for ya.

would sanding that area of plastic first before painting help? plus if im gona sand my scratches out, do i sand whole fender or just scratched area? what all grits do i need to start with and progressively work my way down? (or up)?

use 120 grit dry on the deep scratches then wet sand the whole area w 220 then 320 then 400. soak paper in bucket of water first! when the plastics are smooth use 3000 wet or 000 fine steel wool and buff. as for painting plastics use laquer thinner and lighty wipe the plastics to soften them and the paint will bite in to it , but paint on plastics doesnt last long but this method makes it last longer!
