it will run lean, but what's going to hold the filter in anyways? without a pro-flow adapter you need the lid to keep the filter in place

I just cut part of my airbox lid off so it still holds the filter in place tight, and it allows almost as much flow as taking it off completly

I did the same.....don't look pretty though.

And if your taking your airbox lid off or cutting it, you should instal a prefilter. Right guys? ;D

how did you put a block of wood on it??? if you wedged it in thats thats deff not good cuz that means theres is an open space somewhere letting in dirt and dust..... just leave on the air box lid and drill holes in it for a little more air flow to your filter

Open space where? OK TOMMOROW I WILL TAKE PICTURES OF WHAT I DID!!

When I installed the K&N in bike back in June, I took the airbox lid, and I have never had a problem with the filter moving.

The only problem I have ever had is a water crossing. I hit a quite large water hole and the bike stalled out on me, but I was also at near full speed... The water sprayed a good 10 feet in the air.
