Got my Z400 carb installed and running today, just need to fine tune it. Currently running a 25 pilot, 155 main and 70 starter, fuel screw about 4 turns out. I think I'm still a bit lean on the pilot though. With the choke on it idles nice, once you take the choke off it pops through the intake and will stall sometimes. Also pops alot while decelerating. Seems okay up top, very slight bog but I haven't really had a chance to open it up yet. I think I'm going to try a 27.5 pilot and a 152.5 main and see how it reacts to that. This is my first time jetting just trying to make sure my assumptions are correct.

I would agree, it sounds like your lean on the bottom and rich on the top. I think you need to take a bigger step on the pilot though, I would try a 30 and see how that goes. It's better to have them too rich than too lean because you can lean them out with the fuel screw if need be.

I would suggest only changing one thing at a time, that way if something takes a negative turn, you know exactly what was changed that caused the problem.

I swapped in a 30 pilot today but it still has the same issue. I think I may have some other problem though, the idle seems worse now, sputters a bit. I still have the problem that it pops through the intake and stalls once you take the choke off any ideas what it could be? Or am I still lean? ???
