Ive got a set of itp t-9 rims and Trac star tires that have a rim leak. Ronnies mailorder (they suck) did the mounting and did a sloppy job which caused rim leaks. Ronnies picked up the wheels and remounted them and they were great, for 1 ride. They have leaks around the rim again. The tires are in great shape with no damage and almost no wear. ITP said its Ronnies fault and offered to re-mount them but I wont box these things up again and Ronnies told me they wont do anything for me since they were ordered several months ago. So instead of just throwing them in the trash I was thinking of installing tubes since they have such little use and Im stuck with them. I do like the tires (when they hold air) and figured tubes would eliminate rim leaks. Any advise? Thanks.

Have you tried bringing them to a local shop? They should do it for cheap. I had a tube in one of the front tires when I bought this quad, and it was crap. It was probably the wrong size but even when it was fully inflated it still felt half-inflated.

I'm just wundering, did they seal the bead really good, somtimes it takes an increadable amout of air and a hammer to seat the beads on these tires, just a thought, because I had to put almost 70lbs of air (little dangerous) to actually seat the bead on mine.

take it too a tire shop and they sometimes have wht is basically called "Rim/Tire Sealer", its more less a latex glue or something. just put it on the bead of the tire and the rim and add air and once its dry it just wipes off the rim if any gets on there...its just what i do to tires i work on

I'd be surprised if they didn't use a sealer. All the shops I've been to use it. You can also try using that sealer stuff that you spray inside the tire, through the valve stem. That fixed a few sidewall leaks on my old tires, so it should fix rim leaks fairly easily.

The second time Ronnies mounted them they did use some black stuff and the tires were seated nice and straight and didnt have a single leak. It was after a ride that they developed several leaks. Unfortunately all the shops around here charge at least $30 to dismount/mount a tire and they were seated really nice the 2nd time Ronnies mounted them. I have never had any tire problems before so Im just thinking either these tires suck or Ronnies damaged them when they did the crappy mounting job. I even broke the bead once myself and they sealed up fine. Unfortunately they always seal up fine then leak several days later when its to late for the installer to see it. The trac-star tires work really well but they dont seem very tough compared to HDs ot GNCCs. With mounting prices around here its cheaper to buy new tires and rims mailorder than it is to just buy tires locally, kind of wastefull. Thanks for the help guys.
