For around the same money you can get ones with roller bearings in them. You just cut the little stud off the frame and use a bolt and nut to mount them. They last better than the OEM ones. I used the Moose ones on my Banshee and they work great. The dealer here has them for $14.95 and it comes with a bolt and nut.

Chain roller

You could cut that old shaft off and weld a nut to the frame. Then use a bolt with red locktite to secure the roller. Or, get a hollow tube the same I.D. and O.D. as that shaft and cut threads in it and match a bolt to it.

have you tried backing that stud out? it is supposed to unscrew from there try soaking it with PB Blaster

1 3/4" is a little big. I think it is more like 38mm or 1 1/2". I just cut that stud off my frame and drilled a hole in the frame there so a bolt would go through it. Like I said the Moose ones come with a bolt and nut and that is what the parts guy at the dealer told me to do. I did in on my Banshee and my Warrior and it works great.

That stud is part of the frame on mine. I just cut it off with a hack saw and then took my 4" body grinder and smoothed it flat with the boss.

I just went and looked, and I also had to put a small washer on the bolt between the frame boss and the bearing. The washer has to be small enough that it only touches the inner part of the roller bearing. I don't remember if that washer came with the Moose roller or not, but I think I had to add it.

I currently have the lower roller off of my Warrior. I put a new chain on it and with the 38 tooth sprocket, I couldn't get chain adjustment. You can get away with leaving the lower one off, but not the upper. Once my chain stretches, I will re-install the lower roller.

REALLY!!! the way my lower iss worn compared to my upper i would think exactly opposite!!!!

I ran my Banshee for quite a while without the lower. The upper is usually a long ways from the chain and hits when the suspension is compressed. I don't like running without the lower, but until my chain stretches a little, I have no choice. When the lower is on, the chain is on it most of the time so it wears more. Nothing will hit with it off, though like the upper would.
