the propian torch is not going to get it hot enough to do anything i no i had the saem thing on working with metel for 6 monts u need a asetline torch to get it hot enough to do a dam thing with the rust it will make it more of a pain in the ass so find someone with one and take the ass edn off of the bike and take it to them or get it and try that

First, it's ACETYLENE, or CH2. Second, Propane burns HOTTER than CH2 under an O2 stream(Like in a cutting torch) Just it's properties while buring in a O2 torch set are more conductive to cutting, than welding, but that's another thread.

It's the thermal shock that breaks stuff free...not just heat.

sure, a cutting torch is the best tool for this job, BUT given that 99.995% of the people on here don;t have torches(I however DO) Propane or mapp is all you got.

Stick a Rosebud tip(Go to a local Hardware store and ask for it by name) on the torch, and let it SIT for 10 minin one spot....TRUST ME, it'll be cherry red.

i said screw it and bought a cheap sproket assy. so, i will cut it off and get it out one way or another

ok u could do that but to u have enough money to get one then? or u ca wate a few days and see if u can get it off
 
Don't feel bad...I get to pull the head off of a BRAND NEW REBUILD tomorrow.


Freeking Lock nuts for the valve adjusters.....Lost BOTH of them, AND the intake Adjuster.

All in the span of about 35 seconds. Click Click CLUNK CLUNK Click clikc clikc.......Already pulled a nice chunk of Aluminum out fo the head.....But hey, Less weight now right?

it wasnt that much money, the sproket and hub was 10 dollars, and im having someone come over with a ctuuing torch so we can et it off wuithout a grinder
 
well if someones coming over with a torch, heat it up red hot and then it should come off. If not i guess cut it, this may be what you had planned already, i dunno?
