Ok so tomorrow is the first big flat track race of the season in Moline Il and I blew my motor yesterday. I bought the 396 Hot rods kit on ebay today, but my question is, what else should i do to that motor while i have it torn down. I have a stage 2 cam, its got a mild port and i have the carb upgrade. Should i shave the head and by how much? can i port the exhaust also or just the intake? any other suggestions would be awesome guys, thanks!!

Sucks you blew it up man.........It had nothing to do with the kick ass exile air shrouds I will assure you!

Rebuild and ride. You can and if you can afford port both the exhaust and intake!

Junk that Hotrods stage II cam and get yourself a good one from Megacycle, Powroll, or Web. My rec. would be Megacycle 252X1

^^^What he said!!!^^^ Other than that I would just go through and replace anything with exceptional wear and the bearings. A stroker crank is a nice upgrade alone, I would just get the motor built solid like new and vest any other cash into handling/suspension.
