Broken Cam

I have a 98 Warrior 350. It has broken 3 different cams. It is breaking them where the cam sprocket goes. 2nd one it broke after about 3 hours of riding. 3rd one it broke before it even cranked. Any Ideas? Was thinking maybe bad chain or crank.

Check you timing chain tensioner. If you do not install it correctly it will put extreme tension on the end of the cam.
Step
1/ Remove the center bolt on the tensioner. A spring will also come out.
2/ Remove the other two bolts evenly.
3/ Remove tensioner from the jug.
4/ There is a lock type tab on the plunger housing. Lift this tab and compress plunger.
5/ Reinstall the tensioner and the two bolts.
6/ Install spring then the center bolt.

Do it in this order.

When the cam was installed I removed the tensioner and did those exact steps.

Are you torquing the cam sprocket bolt correctly or just tight enough?

Hmm I would check you guides, if one is bad it can pop it, and make sure that the cam is lock tited and torqued to the proper spec (38.2 ft/lbs I believe)

I torqued it to spec, as well as put locktite on the bolt.
