Need a little info from the experts. The chain slider that sits towards the front of the motor (not the one with the tensioner), does it just free float within the case?

Thanks ahead of time.

Also while I have things apart anything I should be looking for. already has older Alba kit (JE Piston, titanium springs)

the front chain slider has a slot at the top of the head that the slider goes into. once installed correctly, the top of the slider will not be visible once the head is installed. if you do not have it in that slot, it will sit to close to the timing chain and gear and everything will bind up. i made that mistake once and i couldnt even get the timing chain on, but if i would have it would have broken a lot of stuff. just make sure the bottom of the slider is sitting right as it will not let you but the head on right.

if you have it apart, i would check everything in the head, such as valve springs, seals, ect. when i took mine apart after the cam bearing failed, my aftermarket valve springs were broken. theres more to check but i cant think of much at the top of my head right now, but im sure someone else will chime in. hope this helps
