diesel is for hauling, gas is for transportation, and alcohol is for racing!

i only drive diesel but i haul stuff i take it im the only person on here that runs hot shots

i love cryslers 4.0l I6 as long as it's in a wrangler.. the cherokee engines liked to crack between the lifters and peck.

GM is still the best american car company! they're v8's still use lifters, push rods, and rocker arms like a TRUE v8 should! i HATE ******* over head cams on ANYTHING except a I4.

speaking of bell housing bolts... take the top 4 bell housing bolts out of a '89-'95 toyota v6! have to jack the cab up or cut holes in the ****** floor board... i cut holes lol

The 4.0 I6 is a damn good engine. Wish the firewall could accomodate one in the comanche I have. The OHC V8 are total ****! They are big, super heavy, and have no balls. Figures ford would use them. I just put a 4.6 in a f150. How about when the cam phasers getting clogged with **** and **** up the engine. They have a whole cleaning procedure for it, but, it is almost useless. POS... I got into a debate over the OHC V8's and OHV V8's a few yeas ago. Basically what was said was that the OHC makes more power and is more effecient. ********!

Try doing anything on an 89-95 Toyota V6 is usually a bitch. Case in point, timing belt.

We use Alldata and when it comes to chrysler/dodge they suck ass, they bairly tell you how to do anything and if they do its a minimal list and at the end it always says reverse proceder,,, not to forget Yes Cadillac biggest pain in the ass ever,, i had one for oil pan, valve covers and a few other items so hell i raised the car about a foot set jackstands under the subframe and in the end the car was in the air head high but the subframe motor and trans were on the jack stands, the customer came in and ****!!!! but got everthing done and they were all happy..

We use Alldata, too. You're not kidding on the chrystler **** being vague! May as well just say, "Namastay, thankyou, and goodluck!"

you guys just need to get a cummins leave gas for ever lol

Driven those Cummins at my old job... Not impressed. Run for about ever, but, no balls unless you mod them. And the rest of the truck sucks, not comfortable, handles like ****, and has minimal cross members in the chassis. My 8.1 pulls better and gets about the same as fuel milage with a trailer on it. Also, don't have to worry about a bad bach of fuel ******* up my injectors, fuel pump, and other fuel system components. Oil changes are cheaper, repairs are cheaper, runs quieter, etc... I love my 8.1. Oh yeah, I also have the Allison1000, so I have an advantage over all other non Allison equipted trucks. That is one stout bitch!

hmm guess thats why the ONLY truck that beats a v8 chevy in gas mileage is a 2wd 4banger tacoma! lmao. chevy has they're **** down par on engines!

Yes they do. Not that they haven't had their bad engines, everyone does. And, GM's bad engines weren't all THAT bad compared to others. I know I keep talking about my 8.1, but, I think that is the best production big block they have ever made. I wish I could get a spare to build...

That is one badass engine. Under rated, too. Most people want a 454. Nothing wrong with that, but, the 396 is something special. I'm still hoping to get that 66 el camino. Should be able to make 425 horse without much effort. LS6 nostalia cam from comp, clean up the ports, aluminum highrise, mod the q-jet, headers, hei... I'm excited!

yeah the 396 was ****** wicked! it'll run so damn hard it'll vibrate the mains loose! i just wanna find the $$$$ to build my 302 lol

Well I just went threw this whole second page, and nobody mentioned the GM LS series of motors??
I love the new small blocks. Their reliable, and make good power on the cheap.
You can get the 5.3 & 6.0 truck motors at any junkyard around here for around $500 bucks.
Toss a cam at it, and a carburated intake. Voila..
You have yourself a helluva hotrod motor.

I know how you feel. I have 1350 from selling my 49 just burnin' a hole in my pocket waiting for this woman with the elco to call me back. She is a little squirelly, don't want to seem desperate for the car, then she will expect top dollar for it. I'm not going to spend more the 2k on it. I figure IF I can get away with a re-hone (supposed to have low miles on car), and the journals measure out within tolerance and have no galling, it will cost about just under a grand for a fed/mog engine rebuild kit. With forged 11cc domes, moly rings, klevite bearings, etc... and the comp hyd flat tappet LS6 cam kit. Once we get this Yukon sold, dad will be able to get me caught up on atleast a months pay. If that's the case, then I should be able to have the body off, and the chassis completely rebuilt by feb or march.

They are great engines, but I have only driven stock trucks and suv's with them. Never a performance version. When you drive an 8.1 daily the ls series is nothing in conparission... lol

I've driven both the 12 and 24 valvers. Still wasn't super impressed. The way everyone talks about them, you would think that they were some balls to wall freak in stock form. I have a few customers with tweaked dodges and they will fuggin move! But, I'm just not into the whole diesel movement yet. I like my GM gassers. Although, the duramax is a bad mother ******... I've driven several 2012 trucks and jeez they are fast. Don't like the body style though. Have a customer that has an 04 dmax, with high performance lift pump, programmer, intake, exhaust, and a few other things I can't remember. We put the trans in that truck, and it wheels hops in 2nd and 3rd gear. And that is a crew cab long bed 4x4. Nasty truck. He just tore it down for head gaskets, and is doing the egr delete and 2 or 3 other mods.

just remembered the worst engine in history is: the chevy 350 diesel! they are a bomb on wheels!

That was a pile. But, the blocks and cranks are used by drag racers. The blocks have thicker main webs, and the cranks are big block sized mains and rods (I believe on the rods). Guys are or were building them for 500-700 horse.

Don't know if you knew this WG, but, racers used to take the 348 and 409 cranks and put em in the mark IV big blocks. They would have to shim out the main journals and use 409 main bearings for them to work. They would run upwards of 10k rpm and make 700 horse naturally asperated. Thought you'd find that interesting if you didn't already know...
