Takin the carb apart for the rebuild. Someone with gorilla hands already been into it. The head on the pilot jet is all messed up. Can't get a screwdriver to grab. Any ideas?

Ok that should work. I was thinking about those but didn't know if I could get one small enough. I'll look at work Monday. Thanks. Hope it works!

If the carb is not seriously gummed up, and carb cleaner & compressed air go through it. Chances are you can get away with it.

It's gonna need to be re jetted. I'm adding a pipe and filter set up to it. Or do u just change the main jet?

You may not have to. Clean out really good and do the settings on the main ,clip setting, and fuel mixture screw. The more you mess it up, the more it screws up fuel flow. Maybe run a drill bit thru by hand to make sure it's clear. I've heard of folks that just drill out the jets (not here). Just make sure all the shavings are cleaned out. Then clean them out again.

Ok, tomorrow I will go check it out. Clean it really well and make sure its flowing. My main is a 145 right now. Any idea where to go from there?

I would keep the clip at the stock middle setting until you run it and see how rich or lean it's running

Yamahauler gave me alot of good info on my carb. He's right. Clip at the middle, 150 main jet, and fuel mixture out 2-3 turns. From there it's fine tune to your preference.

145 is going to be too small for an exaust and filter.

recommended setting on the Pilot Air screw should be
1987-89=1.25 turns out
1990- up=2 turns out

I have mine at 2.5 out and still a little rich so gonna try 2.25 out
but I'm running a 155 main stock pilot and stock clip setting with HMF slip on, Torq header, open lid air box and stock filter (soon to be Pro Design filter with outerwares)

Not saying i no anything but i rebuilt mine also and and had a hard time getting out all the original jets,, i used a tinny flathead screwdriver and tapped on the screwdriver with a hammer to get it to slightly cut a deeper groove for the screwdriver tip to grab into and mine came loose!!! you may give that a try before you drill it..

I'm gonna start with a 150 main and go from there. Thanks for the tuning info! Do you do plug "chops" to check tuning?
