help me out with this thing before it aggrivates me to death. since i have had this big bore kit on i have been having issues with it cutting off while slowing down or pulling in the clutch. i have it jetted accordingly to the mods, but it still has the issue. running the stock carb by the way. i have a 157.5 main and 45 pilot. should i bump up the pilot and then play the air screw a little or what.

the only thing getting me by for now is turning up the idle, but the spring is weak and works the screw back out.

hope i can get this squared away or i may get keihin pe 38 from duncan.

btw, i did my first valve adjustment since installing the big bore kit. i thought it had something to do with it, but it doesn't help the issue.

That would for sure give it tons better response. The stocker is just choking it up.... I suck a jetting thou ha

yeah, i should have kept that carb that i had. didn't feel like tuning it though. i have gotten better with jetting, but this one has me puzzled.

I am not real good with jetting either, but does it just pop when you slow down, are you letting completly off the throttle then it cuts out? They say if it pops on decel then its lean on the pilot but you already have a 45 in it, but you may need to go a tad bigger, once you let off the throttle you should be back into the idle circuit then I think. Have you tried messing with the mixture screw a little, might turn it out like a 1/4 turn and see what it does as that would richen up that part some. Also you sure there is nothing in there effecting it its all clean.

everything is clean, no popping on decel, haven't messed with the air screw much. i'm thinking it's what 87 said. this stock carb is choking the engine with the amount of work i have done.

i could be wrong but i think you might be running it way rich. ive got about the same mods as you i think and im only running a 150 main with the main needle bumped up 2 notches. i could step up to the 152 but it boggs down too much at low throttle so id have to drop the main needle down to the bottom setting in warm weather. the only thing the mixture screw is good for is the idle so it wont really do much.

the needle is on the 3rd clip. running a 155 main makes it cut out on the top of every gear. bumped it to the 157.5 and it cleared up. may fiddle with it some more.

When at a idle mess withe air mixture screw till it runns the highest idle (example) turning it in might slow the idle down so go the otther way with it till it starts to run high idle and keep going till that to starts to slow the rpms down then set the screw till it at the max high idle without givving it gas the reset your idle through the oem idle adjustment screw and try that if it still dose it id try bumping the slide nedle up a notch
