carb problems

Just installed new starter clutch and when I try to start it the motor tries to run but stalls and white smoke puffs out of the tailpipe so i thought it was lean so i bumped my jetting up which i needed to do anyway but even with the new jets its still doing it so what am i overlooking?

Are you sure you got the flywheel back on right and the key is still in the crank?

Did you make sure that the vent hoses are free of obstructions?

I'll check the hoses pat and yes the key is fine
