okay, i can't seem to find a good straight forward clutch install thread. im in the middle of putting in a new clutch pack, but im stuck with the big center bolt. when i turn it enough the whole axle wants to spin. what is the trick to get it loose? also, do i need a basket holder or can i make something to hold it up?

btw, i bought a cheapo EBC kit off ebay thinking that it was gonna come with HD springs and steel plates. boy was i wrong.(planned to add the extra plate too:argh:) will it be okay to reuse the stock springs or will that make it slip?

I think I've read somewhere that an impact wrench does the job well on that bolt.

yeah, you can make a basket holder for the center bolt. the clymer even tells you how to. I usually take a drill bit and out it in one of the two basket holes and jack up a jack to be under the drill bit, that holds the basket when I wrench the bolt off.

U got a EBC kit with no springs? Stock springs should work just fine. U can still use one of your stock plates too.

yeah, i was being cheap i thought when i got this kit. it was only the clutch disk, no plates. i'll try to figure something out. hope to have it installed this evening.

is there any kind of break-in period for these things?

Not that I know of. Just make sure to soak them in the oil u use 10 to 15 prior to installation.

yupp, they say over soaking them has no hinder in difference of performance. 10mins is the least amount of time.

yep i soaked my dp clutch for my 87 over night even though the box said not to?? for break in i dont think there is any, i just kinda took it easy on mine for the first couple hours just to be safe

got it together finally. feels great. lifts up in 2nd with no problem now. gotta get it all adjusted now. thanks for the help.

btw, these stock springs seem to be fine the clutch pull is good and stiff.
