okay, im in the middle of this here oil cooler mod. i bought a cover already tapped and fitted from a member here. well, the old gasket was still on it and it wasn't moving very good. i've always been under the impression that the best way to remove old gaskets is with a razor or scraper. well, the razor and scraper didn't work out too well.

now im in need of suggestions on how to remove it. what methods did you guys use? would it be a bad idea to use a die grinder and wire wheel and go over it very lightly?

thanks

well, that old bastard of a gasket is being a pita and i don't feel like busting my knuckles or slicing myself. just looking for an easier route really.

Ya i know exactly what your having to go through lol i swear the gaskets on mine were all original before i replaced them. Seriously i think it too me about 45 minutes just to get the clutch side gasket off it took for ever! o ya and i was using a razor blade.

they make a rubber type attachment that goes in a drill cleaned up what i couldnt get with a razor, when i did my piston kit. i think most auto stores should have something like it

I used a really light wire wheel on my dremal, came off in no time. just dont grind down any pockets into the case and you'll be fine.

thanks guys. i did get finished with the install finally. i actually did it with the die grinder and wire wheel. went over it very lightly. looked like it had been polished. doesn't leak so i'm happy.

on another note, got my 250 shifter put on. can't believe how much difference there is between the 2 shifters. gonna take me some time to get used to it.

ya i know it took me some time to get use to the shifter but its worth it
