okay, i'm almost ready to put my 366 topend together, but i have a question about my jugs.

i still have my original jug with the standard bore i believe and then i bought an extra jug that's .40 over and in great shape. i wanna know if i should use the .40 jug and just get it lightly honed for the new je kit i'm ordering.

with just a hone it wouldn't have as much life as say my original jug with a fresh .40 bore correct?

i'd like to cut the cost of a bore and hone if i can. i don't want it to be rigged either so depending on any suggestions i may just spend the 40 bucks to get it done.

also, to add to this thread, i have inspected the head that i got also.


it has a Megacycle 252x1 camshaft with HD springs along with being ported and polished. how do you think this setup will work with the JE 10.5 piston? i decided agaist the 12:1 because of cost and also i heard that these warrior starters don't like them too well.
 
i think you'll be fine just honing the .40 over jug if it looks good as you said. Also you said you inspected the head you got also, how did it look? Another thing you can do if you're unsure of the condition is take the stuff to a machine shop and have them magnaflux them to check for hairlind cracks
 
really, a cycle show could tell you better. It depends on how the new piston and rings would rider and clear in the hone on the old jug. It might mess up the math and then the new bore will work. They say its always best to match new parts. That 10.5:1 will work just fine with your new head and cam. What lobe is on that 252x1?
 
.430 or .450 not sure which.


is there a way to tell? all i seen when inspecting it was the 252x-1, but looking at Dave76's cam specs it could be megacycle .450 or powroll .430. i assumed it was megacycle at first.
