Alright, I'm about to go crazy....I've heard so many different opinions over the past few days. My max price is about 3 grand. Maybe a lil more just depends on a few things....Overall I just want a newer model quad thats faster stock than my modded warrior, handles better and has better suspension, so basically an all around better quad. I really like the looks of the z 400's but people say the frames crack and the engines are weak and they blow...400ex's I've always been a yami/suzuki guy...But have never really heard anything bad about an 400ex. 660 rappy, 01's are outta the question with tranny problems, 02's and up I'm not really sure but have heard a few various problems. The final choice, keeping the warrior. I'm pretty much decided im not gona keep it because its a money pit trying to make it up to par with other newer model stock quads... So guys vote on what you think the best quad is that i should buy. Is there any other quads you might suggest? Keep in mind I'm looking for a newer model quad prolly 02+

i would say a 400ex... it jump's better handle's better, but im not sure how fast ( i heards a lightly modded warrior can keep up with a stocker? any ways 400ex's are GREAT, fast, reliable quads, and it's a improvmnet over the warrior

Lmao are you serious bro, A stock z will ******* KILL a stock 400 ex in a race, Handing really isnt better at all, about the same, jumping is deff. better on a z becuase of their suspension and geometry. $00ex's are old design, look at their engine, it looks like my lawnmowers, The only honda I would ever buy is a three wheeler or a 450r.

I dont know why you are saying their engine is weak and blow. They are as, if not more reliable as the hondas and yami's.

I dont get why EVERYONE is making a big deal about the frame, again, I rode my 03 on stock front shocks for a majority of my ownership over it, and when I did upgrade the front it was to the shittiest line of elka, so it wouldnt make a difference in hard impacts.

Look

You can see it was a pretty hard impact from this hieght lol

Thats between 45-50 feet quadriple. As you can see I nosedived, and cased it pretty damn bad. That really re-assured me the strenght of the frame, the weak spot is said to be the two tubes going up and down to the shock and back to the engine mounts, That case gave a direct hit on that area, and this was on a frame that has been ridden on for over 2 years, and takin a beating from the mx track every weekend.

660's suck. Yeah, they go fast, but that's it. They're hard to control because the front end is too light and they're way too short and narrow for the power they have. And 2 carbs = pain in the ass to work on or rejet for mods. 400ex is hardly a step up at all from the warrior, just a small notch up all-around, except that the front end is way too light and comes up all the time. The z400 would be my pick if I had to trade a warrior for one of those, but i'd still rather keep the warrior. Aside from those you mentioned, you might be able to find a predator in that price range and that's a bigger step up in performance than the z, but polaris isn't known for it's great reliability.

Well guys I asked this question on 450rhq also and after all of the answers I've recieved from here and there I'm gona go with the z :) Its gona be hard to sell the warrior just because I've put a lot of my hard earned money in it but after I install the new rear shock, take a link out of the chain, install the halogen lights and get a new battery it will be for sale. I might wait till spring to sell it just because I dont feel like messin with it right now because of the crappy weather. Also i called about a z a few minutes ago, 2003 he's asking 2100 obo, said its in perfect condition except in need of front wheel bearings. Thanks for all of your opinions ;)

What is wrong with the 660, there not hard to ride, you just have to learn. You just dont go from shitty 350 to a 660 and ride perfectly, it takes practice. As for the carbs, its a half hour more work and no they are not too small, I ride in narrow trails that turn alot and there are no problems of tipping or rolling. You cant just jump on one and say wow this thing sucks after you ride something that you practically have to stand on grab bar to wheelie with. And another thing they are very reliable except for the starter one ways and all of them past 01 have no tranny problems.

A shitty 350, I would watch my choice of words, were not on your 660 site.

For real, and hes wrong about the learning thing. Hes trying to make it sound like a raptor is a beast to handle, listen here bud, I've literally "jumped" from my warrior onto an 02 660, and this was in my early days of riding, It wsant hard at all to hadnle, I was wheeling it as far as I could my warrior, eveything I could do on my warrior I did on the 660. Jumping was more a pain in the ass, 660's dont have a very good center of balance.

I went through this same thing a few months ago. You probably remember my "part out" fiasco. I finally decided that I would keep the warrior until I could afford a new bike. Didn't want to loose all I had put into the warrior just to start with something else I would have to modify to get what I want. So I'm happy riding my warrior till I can affford a YFZ or Rappy 700. Or maybe an Outlaw 525.......Just my $.02.
