Thats a pretty good read, thanks for posting it :)

They did some good testing, much of it shows how little difference there is between many MC and Auto oils. The nice thing is that this is from late 2006 I believe, so its fairly current.

The one thing that seems odd to me, is the limited test data for the wear and shear tests. Those test, are the biggest indicators of an oils ability to sustain itself in a 4-stroke engine. The before & after centistoke will tell you A LOT about the oil, indeed one of the MOST important aspects of the oil.... yet they choose to only print a small sampling of the results? That seems fishy to me.

Oil is a subjuct that people will NEVER fully agree on.Theese are good posts that let people make an educated decision on which oil they prefer.Riding conditions play a big factor in oil choise for example I live in south Louisiana and theres alot of wetlands, swamps, alligators, mud, ect.I can't justify using really expensive oils because I have to change it often due to water. If my motor goes under I change the oil.....most of the time:)

This test is a little older and NOT MC specific but it has extensive "real world" shear and wear comparisons.

Heh, several (most) of those oils arent even available in the US. A lot of Aussie spec'd oils behave differently than North American spec'd oils. You'll note some of the odd weights in that test as a clue.

Kinda funny, though, explains why the higher-end Penrite is popular down-under, as well as Valvoline. If I hadnt spent so much time in Australia, I wouldnt recognize a lot of them, lol.
