Dyno testing?

I've dyno'd my car also, but that's not what this forum is about.

I'm just curious how much effect parts like a filter or muffler actually have on such a small displacement engine.

Aba Performance Pipe Kit
Our pipe kits are dyno-tested for maximum horsepower gains, and come with pipe, torque stuffer, K&N filter, and the proper jetting and instructions. Get a 19% HP gain!

I believe all pipes would be close to that. If you take about 19 - 20 horsepower the warrior engine has times .19 of a gain you get about 3.8. Which I bet is about right. Maybe a little less but I would say no more.. depending on how you tune/ jet the engine.

doesn't the raptor 350 have a lil more power stock than the warrior, I mean its not much but like 1-2 hp more?

You really think it's that much of a difference on a warrior? I find that hard to beleive myself, based on the reasoning that the stock exhaust really isn't that restrictive compared to a lot of quads. I can believe it on some quads that really have restrictive exhaust systems from the factory, or on a quad that has some engine work done and needs to flow more exhaust than a stock one, I just don't see that much of a gain on a stock warrior. I'm thinking maybe 2 horsepower with the average slip-on or full system.

You really can't go by what the manufacturers claim, that's one thing that's certain. I think it was LRD that claimed an 8 hp gain on the raptor 350... yeah, almost doubling the horsepower with an exhaust system, that makes a lot of sense.

Exactly my reason for making this post. I'm trying to see if there is truely enough performance gain to make it worth spending any money on it. I don't care about the exhaust sound, so gaining that would be of no benefit to me.

Is there a list of the different quads and their stock hp ratings out there? Preferably a list that went back to at least 2000.

Thanks.

What's worth it, and what's not worth it, depends on what your final goal is. If you just want a little more power so that you can hang with a 400, then you'd probably find it worthwhile to put on a few of the basic upgrades. If your goal is to be the fastest out there, you'll spend a fortune before you realize that you picked the wrong quad to do it.

So the first question has to be - what are you trying to achieve?

yes 22. Better carb, and intake manifold/airbox setup. . also a little freer flowing exhaust and smaller headpipe.

Honestly I don't know for a fact. I do know when installing a slip on and air filter I felt a pretty good power increase but I also jetted tell I got the most power. I would say it was maybe a 3 hp increase. I'm not really sure though. I've read exhaust shoot outs on the warrior and dyno tested with no airbox lid and a k and n. I think they were getting around that. The thing to understand is it's a small engine and that were the problem lies. There is no way an exhaust can give you 8hp I'll agree with that. The bigger displacement the more HP is to be made from exhaust and other upgrades depending on how much the factory put the clamps on.

At this point I don't have any real goals for it. I bought it because I was being cheap and figured buying this would leave cash left over for some other things I want. I'll really know more of what I want to do after I take it to the trails over the holiday weekend. I have currently only been running it around the farm.

What got me really thinking about parts is that one of the two warriors I bought has a non-spark arrestor muffler on it. So to take it to the state trails, I need to replace that. If the mufflers made enough of a difference, I would buy one, if not, I would look for a cheap used stocker.

Then after doing alot more reading recently, I began thinking I should have just bought a 400/450 like I was origionally planing to do. It just seems like so much on the warrior needs upgrading that I would possibly been happy with a stock 400/450.

I only plan to run this XC, and maybe a occassional dune ride. I do not ever plan to get into MX or racing.
