last night i ordered one off ebay. i got the twist throttle one because thats what i have currently and i really like it. i hope this finally gets my new engine running right. that stock one was driving me nuts. i did a lot of research and im pretty sure this is the carb for me. it will be another two weeks before i can put it on being im 6 hours from the quad because of college. but ill let everyone know how things go and how the engine runs after i get it on. if there is anything i should know before hand i would appreciate the feedback.

A couple things about the edelbrock carb...

The fit between the carb and the included intake manifold is very tight, you will probably have to mess with it for a while in order to get it just right so it slides in all the way. I messed with mine for 15 minutes when I installed it and a couple days later discovered I still only had it slid in about halfway. It will be much easier to leave the airbox off completely until you're sure you have the carb secured in the manifold all the way.

The second thing, my only real complaint about the edelbrock, I hope you don't like riding in cold weather too much. I rode mine in the winter like a snowmobile, and mine consistently pissed me off because for whatever reason, the carb doesn't have a choke or enrichener circuit, so when the engine is cold you'll have to fight it for the first couple minutes to get it fired up and keep it idling. Once it gets a little heat built up it performed fine, getting to that point was tricky for me, especially when the weather dropped below freezing. I really don't understand why this carb doesn't have a choke but every other carb ever built in the history of mankind has a choke. I even raised hell with edelbrock about it and they told me that a choke wasn't necessary on the warrior. Bullshit.

alright thanks yamaRider. ill probably just take the boot off coming from the box to the carb in order to install it. i cant remember the last time i had the entire airbox assembly off of it.

yea the only hesitation i had to buying this carb was the choke. i do ride in the winter almost as much as the summer so i wasnt sure. but the tuning sounds extremely easy, and that is what i wanted. i think i should be alright, i mean i grew up with trucks that never had chokes, so im hoping ill be alright.

but yea i read a lot of reviews on this carb, and that was really the only complaint people had on them. but again thanks for heads up.

One other thing, i'm sure you'd figure it out for yourself, but the tuning guide will most likely say that you will need to remove the carb or fuel tank to access the needle adjuster on the top of the carb. This is not true. There is a rubber flap underneath the bottom of the gas tank that you can pull off and toss in the garbage, with this removed you can just take the seat off and reach right under to the adjuster.

Also, I don't know if edelbrock corrected the issue since I got mine, but myself and the other members that have bought them in the past have found that the included fuel line has too large of an ID, and won't fit tightly onto the fuel petcock like the original line did. I already had some tusk standard size clear fuel line laying around, so I just used that instead of the stuff edelbrock provided. It's nice to have the clear fuel line so you can get it routed just right so you don't have any air pockets forming in the line and restricting flow.

ok yea i wasnt sure if you could adjust the needle easily or not. but im guessing that in order to change needles you have to the fuel tank off? i still did not put my front fenders on from the rebuild because i want to get everything worked out before i do.

so ill have to get another fuel line then? will the stock line work (yea i still got that on there), or do you just suggest getting clear lines anyways? since i have two weeks i could order some so i have it.

i think the 18e needle that comes with it will be the one i will try for the mods that i have. ill just have to read the instructions when it comes so i can figure out the acc. pump and the needle hight.

but thanks again yamaRider i really appreciate your help

well i finally got home and installed the edelbrock. that is one awesome carburator. it looks like a gem when you hold it next to the stocker. installation was pretty simple, i actually had more trouble figuring out how the twist throttle went together with 2 cables. once i figured that out i had it on and running in 20 minutes.

the first ride was pretty good. i need to mess with the acc. pump i think. it acts up a little at low end if you dont play with the throttle right. i have no idea how i am on the needle height but the needle itself seems pretty good for top end. doesnt seem to have quite the hit at low end as the old carb but im pretty sure i sill need to tune the whole carb in (which is easy to do on this carb)

on a side note, this did fix my problem that i started a thread on. it would miss and carry on at certain rpms, but now it runs good, just need to fine tune it and i think i will be awesome. but very glad i went with this carb. it was 30 degrees out here today and just had to play with the throttle to get it start for about 30 seconds. one very great carb IMO
