Twisting wires together and electrical taping them should only be a temporary job for anything. Twisting the wires doesn't hold up, and neither does electrical tape.

Billions of Telco, and Home wiring connections disagree with you.

Look at where your wires come into your house. Those black globs?

That's Electrical tape. Self-Vulcanizing rubber tape, but electrical tape nonetheless.

Eh, those connections just sit there, they don't go through the abuse they will on a quad. Maybe if it's done right it could hold together, but there's so many times i've been working on stuff that was repaired that way, and the tape had just turned all gooey and pretty much fell off. And what happens when you tug on 2 small gauge wires that have just been twisted together? It sure doesn't take much to pull them back apart. Maybe you could get by with twisting and tape, but soldering and shrinkwrap tubing will work 10 times better. That's how I wire everything up and it never failed.

Go to a Car audio shop that deals in high-DB systems. You'll NEVER see a soldered joint. Soldering joints in an application where they are subjected to vibration tends to fracture the conductors where the solder stops.

Same reason all connectors in a car's harness are crimped, and not soldered.

really, as long as the two wires conduct, how they are connectrd is a moot point.

I don't think we're gunna do this guys. We're just going to get rid of it and then maybe in the spring/summer get a new one. I'm not exactly sure, but I know we're not going to fool around with the wires when in the end we could just screw things up.
