Well guys it's a really long story and the fellers over on bluetraxx have been very little help, maybe you guys can help considering this is a yfm350 forum. If you would like to read the progress here is the link http://www.bluetraxx.com/forums/yamaha-yfm350-raptor-warrior-87-present/83711-2001-warrior-350-had-spark-now-dont.html#post838211.

Or you can read my short summary!

Here goes, I got the warrior from a guy on craigslist, got there and it didnt have spark but he swore it did the other day, now it didnt run he new that but didnt know why. I took his word for it and got it anyways (only paid $600 and got 2 extra motors that needs rings and also got some extra plastics). First thing i did was took it to a buddies shop. Got there and hmmm it has spark, good blue spark. Couldnt get it to run though, did a compression test and it was really low. So i pulled the motor with some spare parts we had and was able to get a motor with efficient compression.

Decided to go to bed and finish it in the morning, woke up, timed it and commenced the starting of this beast. Hmm wont start, pulled spark plug no spark. Changed spark plug, still no spark. Grabbed the spark plug wire and the frame, and didnt feel any shock. Well dang!

Tested the stator and the pick up was out of range, decided to replace everything, new stator, stator pick up, and pick up coil. Still no spark WTF. Tested the coil, it read bad too, bought a new coil from yamaha shop, still no spark. Ok cdi it is, bought a new cdi box still in the plastic and everything off ebay. Still no spark!

Pulled wire harness, made sure point A had continuity with point B and that point A wasnt grounded to a ground source. Put wire harness back on and tried testing the orange wire going to the coil with a test light (not the led kind) nothing! Tried my digital volt meter on the orange wire but that wont read anything except a negative reading, odd. Checked my stator it all ohms out like it should but i cant get any AC power out of any of the plugs.

Now the kill switch and push button start were pulled out of the handle bar not sure why. So the 3 wires, red, black, and black/white are hanging loose. According to the wire diagram all 3 should be loose and not hooked together or grounded to achieve spark.

Back to the not getting AC power from plugs. I dont get any power out of the plugs coming directly from the stator BUT that black/white wire at the front of the 4 wheeler is spose to have voltage on it correct (ground it to loose spark)? Well with the NEW cdi box plugged up it doesn't have any voltage, so i plugged the OLD cdi box back up and it has voltage again. Hmmm does this mean my NEW cdi box is bad and my OLD cdi box is in fact good.

Im grasping at straws, i have checked my key switch and it seems to be working fine. I have checked all my ground, the wires that are spose to be grounded are grounded and the ones that arent, dont. So im really at a loss and some help, or guidance would be great, maybe a prayer for the grimlins to leave me a lone lol!

All my neutral and reverse switches seem to be working fine, not really sure how to test them but the lights on the dash are really my way of ASSUMING the switches are working.

And yes i tried pull starting it with my lawn mower, sounded cool made me feel a little better to hear a simulation of what it would sound like if it ran but it still didnt start and didnt have spark.

I dont have any friends with warriors, one but his is a 2003 and mine is a 2001. Parts wont interchange from my understanding.

Not very short i realize but ive really tried everything and not sure what else to do. If someone is in the east TN area with a compatible warrior whilling to help me exchange parts to find the problem dont hesitate to message me. Hopefully someone can help me here? and sense there is no voltage on the black/white wire with the NEW cdi box does that mean its bad? Should i send it back? Is my OLD one fine?

Here are some pics of this $600 beast lol only if it ran :(

Unplug the rectifier and see if you get a bright spark. Sounds to me it may be blown. I had same issue on my 97

Ok tried that, unplugged the 3 white wire plug, red wire and black wire going to the rectifier, still no spark.

Yeah but he is busy till sometime next week and his is an 03, i get the feeling a lot of stuff is gonna be different. I thought the rectifier was simply for the lights, shouldnt have anything to do with spark?

Well googled the rectifier thing and it seems that could possibly be the problem, sending a low voltage signal to the cdi. Weird. Anyone know how i can test the rectifier to see if its bad?

Edit: Ok watched a tutorial on how to test the rectifier, i checked mine and everything showed up good according to the multimeter. So i dont think thats my problem.

Were you able to solve out the problem? I am facing similar issue with the spark so can you guide me the way to solve it out?Waiting for reply thanks in advance:)

Nope still no spark. Went through everything. However, i did untape the wire harness and find a bunch of wires twisted together. One of the wires being the orange wire coming from the cdi. I soldered them back together and shrink wrapped them. Waiting till in the morning to turn it over and see if i have spark now. Check your harness all though my volt meter showed a connection from point A to Point B i imagine twisted wires are probably not the best way of achieving a spark.

Well bad news guys. No longer a member of the warrior club. Traded my non running no spark warrior this morning for a 2001 blaster that runs like a top. Guess he really wanted a warrior. Got tired of fooling with the warrior spent lots of money and time and never got to ride it.

Heres what i traded for.
