Exhaust Stud stripped out

Anyone had any luck tapping and putting in a new stud for the exhaust on the head? I bought a warrior and the lower stud was missing. The threads in the whole are chewed up. So my rebuild of the quad is stalled until I can find a way over/around this hurdle.

Do I just need to find a replacement head? Or can I tap the hole bigger and ride on?

Drill and tap to M8x1.25
