Front tires shaky

My left front tire is shaky (loose) at a stand still. I thought it was the hub bolt which it wasn't. What can cause this or is it normal?? My rear tires did the same thing but I just removed the carter pin and tightened axle bolt.
 
wheel bearings or could also be A arm bushings and it seams like the wheel is shaky also check Ball joints
 
yeah I am it's the drugs typing sure could use some beer instead but I'm too dehydrated for that fun
 
How can you tell if a arms or ball joint are bad besides wheel shaking??
 
look/listen/feel, get up close n personal with each, put a jack under front and start shaking things and use ur eyes n ears, youll find it, keep us posted.......here to help ya:tup:
 
I hear what you saying Jim but when you don't know what to look/listen/feel for its a bit hard to do due to the fact that as my screen name states this is my 1statv (first atv). I know in a car if you jack the car up an the wheel has vertical play its a lower ball joint and horizontal play its a hub bearing or cv joint. With that being said the tire shakes in all directions so I'm assuming bearing (like sated above) as far as a arms or ball joints I can look at the ball joints and see that there's no physical damage/tearing on the outside but does that determins weather it's bad or not?? And I have no clue on how to tell if a a arm is bad
 
You check balljoints, tie rod ends, and wheel bearing the same way as that of a car. Have someone hold the bars STILL, or use two tie down straps from the bars to the grab bar, and with the front end in the air, shake the wheels at the 9 and 3 oclock posistions. Inspect the tie rod ends while doing this. If you have an assistant shake the wheels while you not only look at the tie rods, but hld first the inner then the outer, you can feel the play in them. Most times on quads if there is play in the tie rods it is visibly noticable. After you have done that, shake the wheels at the 12 and 6 oclock posisitions, to check for wheel bearings AND balljoints. If a balljoint is ectremely worn, you will see the play in it while shaking/rocking and the 12 and 6 oclock. Usually rocking the wheel fairly gently will help you to fell the wheel bearings, more then rocking it HARD, which will help to feel or see the balljoint wear (they need some extra leverage to show their play). Lastly, take a pry bar and put it under the wheel and pry upward on the tire to get the balljoint's shaft/shank to move in it's socket. The control arms/a arms and the steerig knuckle should move together at the same time, if the knuckle moves some before the arms do, balljoints are the cause.
 
Oh, and while you are shaking the wheels at the 12 and 6, look really good at the a arm bushing where they mount to the frame. They have grease fittings, and may need to be grease, or replaced if they don't tighten up with greasing.

if those fuckers will take grease, i guess if there bad they will take grease easier thou. mine are new, all i do is make a mess from tip jumping off tit :eek:
 
Yeah you have to gease them ass you assemble them. They are too tight when 1st out together, and the grease cannot push out from between bushings.
 
I never had that prob when I replaced the a arm bushings they each took 3.5 pumps of grease easy with no blow by

yea, what he said! I like seeing grease come out the seal, then i know there greasy :evilface: if it just flys out then there worn, you should have some resistence on the grease gun, im an old heavy equip operator so i know i grease gun, hate them, threw em, smashed em, tracked over them:argh:lol

I lost a brand new grease gun last summer, but found it while I was mowing the back yard this spring.... It was a fricken grease explosion man!!!
It bend the blade on the lawnmower to.. lmao

I would be willing to bet that your wheel bearing are the culprit as well. Their actually really easy to change, and fairly inexpensive..
To really see if your wheel bearings are shot you can pull the front hub , and give them a good inspection. The bummer about the front bearings, is that their pressed in. If you have access to a press your style'n, but a local shop could probably do for a few bucks.
I've always beat them out with a hammer, and a punch. Then use my truck, and a hydraulic jack to press the new ones in.
It works good. But you have to be real careful not to scare up the inside of the hub where the bearing mates, while your pounding the old bearings out.

I've noticed that same left from tire has a slight lean sort of looks like this / from a front view but not as dramatical.. Is that from a bad front bearing???
