I finally got a truck, a 93 GMC Sonoma x-cab, 2wd, 4.3 auto, only 90,000 miles and not a scratch on it.

NICE! I love having my truck, it's so much easier to tow the quad around. I love the truck man, I dunno about you, but the first time i took my quad out in the back of the truck i was super careful hahaha. have fun man!

Pfttttt my dad has a '01 Ford f150 with over 250k miles on it... lol and not 1 scratch either...
nice truck though...

if u dont mind me asking how much did that run you? im trying to save for something by the end of this summer

Grats on the new truck

I had a S-10 4X4 with the 4.3 motor it will run pretty good

Thanks for the comments, guys. The truck was $4,000 before taxes, which is pretty good in my area, where prices for xcab trucks seem to be unusually high.

Good luck with that auto tranny. I had a blazer with the vortec 4.3 and an auto tranny. I had that damn transmission rebuilt more times than I can remember. I am sure it had something to do with the place that was rebuidling it. Unfortunately I was stuck going back to them because it was always still under their warranty and I was in college. In any case, change the tranny fluid often. I would recommend every 30,000 miles, especially if you are towing with it.

Way to rain on my parade. That's not what I wanted to hear. Hopefully I won't have the same luck as you. It seems like it shifts great for a 14 year old truck, but I guess you don't really know when something could start going wrong.

I have a 98 blazer with the vortez 4.3 and probably the same tranny, not sure of it but not much has changed that much. I've owned it for 1.5 years and have put over 40,000 miles on it. I have over 140,000 on the entire vehicle. Only things I have had to replace heater core, head gasket, stupid ass ABS brakes and thats about it. The only thing I've added to it besides my stereo/video and wheels is a K&N air filter and IMO it didn't change jack.

But overall its been a great vehicle. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Gotta love GMC's my dad had a sierra since 89 and its still running strong we use it for hunting on back roads and stuff now..

nice truck. good condition for a 93. get you some good tie downs and watch out for that bulkhead (bed panel at the rear window). ive heard of guys loading up too fast, hitting that wall and bending it all up, sometimes even smashing the rear glass! i think i saw some sort of modification that you can do where you put a piece of steel angle iron (L-shaped) on there to help protect it, but i guess that will only work if you dont put a tonneau on it and want some ugly piece of steel on your bed. lol good luck with it and tint those windows! ;D

I've already thought about running into the back of the bed from loading too fast. I think what i'm going to do is throw an old tire or something up against the back of the bed when i'm loading and transporting the quad.

Once I get this thing paid off, which won't be too long, I have all kinds of plans for it. Window tint is definitely on the list. The sound system has already been completely replaced (except the rear speakers, and I have an Audiobahn 4x10 component system on the way)

Yea, definately do something like the tire.

I had a 81 Dodge shortbed 4x4 that I bent the front of the bed up pretty good on from loading my 3-wheeler into. Got to the point where it would rub on the cab going down the road making this awful squeaking sound and drove me nuts.

yeah i never thought about a tire. that would be a good, cheap, removable way to protect that. window tint is definitely a must. i cant tell, but does that gmc have the "privacy" glass in the rear extended cab part? i had an extended cab s-10 (xtreme) that had it, and when i had 5% tint put on the rear it was REALLY DARK! you could barely see in during the day, and forget about using the rearview mirror at night! my silverado had all clear windows in it before i got it tinted (about a month ago now) and the 5% doesnt look as dark. just remember to stay legal with your side windows though. i have a buddy that got pulled over once with 5% on all windows of his truck and they pulled him out at gunpoint! also, tickets for that will start to add up!

My first car (escort) had the windows tinted pretty damn dark when I got it. I got stopped by a cop because of underbody neons, and he also made me remove the window tint, which was a serious pain in the ass, and also resulted in the loss of my rear window defroster. Definitely don't want to go through that again. I don't remember what the legal amount is anymore, but I know the escort's windows were too damn dark to begin with. I like to see where i'm going, even in reverse. We have a pretty good place that specializes in window tinting, vinyl graphics, and stuff like that, so I'll probably take it there and let them do what they think will work best.

probably not a bad idea. i know that the legal limit here on side windows is 30-35%, but mine are 20% and they arent too dark. havent got pulled over yet, but the difference between 30-35% and 20% isnt too much (i think). anyway, if you have your windows at 5% all around, a lot of times people just think you are up to no good. lol the place i took it to wouldnt go any lower than that on the sides. also, i would make sure that the place has some sort of warranty or guarantee on their work and tint. mine has a lifetime warranty against bubbling, discoloration, cracking, peeling, etc. so if it does any of that stuff they will fix it for free. good luck and lets see it when you get it tinted!

niceee little truck dude, reminds me of mine.... that 4.3 should have plenty of nut
