hey guys, new to this whole thing.. even quads. through a stroke of luck i got an 89 warrior for free. good condition just needed a battery, muffler and a good carb cleaning. all taken care of except the muffler. Any recomendations on brand? i was thinking of putting a stock on so i wont have to rejet it but im not sure if it had a super throwdown one in the past and had been re jetted. how many turns should stock be? like i said im new to this whole thing so any other info or stuff to check out would be awesome, thanks!!!

Get aftermarket and gain some HP.

There is plenty of rading on here about which exhausts we all like and prefur.

Jetting is quite easy too once you do a little research, once again, plenty of good info on here about that.

Your "turns" out is your fuel/air mixture screw. Baised on your needle clip position, it's usually 2.5.

Welcome, Enjoy. Nice lookin free quad, I'd ditch those wally world fog lights thou if it were mine. Lucky.

welcome! cool free quad man! alot of great people on here to help with anything. First mod if it was my free one.....flip all 4 rims, which requires drilling new valve stem holes on the inside, and buy some 20 x10x9 good tires of your choice and ditch the baloonies. best money you could spend. makes it handle like a new quad....or just ride it....FREE is GOOD!!

I think you need to get a nice set of nerf bars on that thing and definitely loose the wally world lights Type of exhaust all depends on if you want loud quiet or something in between I have HMF which is a little on the loud side my buddy has DG which is a little quieter than that and then there is the Yoshimira spendy but nice, FMF a lot of guys run these all depends on your preference for sound & tone and sometimes looks. get some Kenda Klaws or Holeshots for the back for tires

thanks guys! i was a little worried about gettin this thing in shape but this forum is a big help. I called my local yamaha guy he said he could get me stock headers a a big gun muffler for 275 (before tax) good deal? i want something pretty quiet and he said you can pack anything and make it quiet. Im not gonna be blastin down straight aways, just crawling around the sierras

Big gun is a good pipe 275 is not a bad deal it wont be quiet but you will see some power gains from it.

I would have to say "just buy a quality piece"..
Your not gonna find many aftermarket performance mufflers that are quiet.
And trust me the Yamaha 350 can use any extra power you can squeeze out of it... lol
(That otta stir some controversy)

If money is an issue, dg sells a nice steel slip on muffler. I put 1 on my friends warrior, costs $150. I rebuilt pretty much the whole bike outta my pocket, as a bday gift, hence spending as little as possible. Not too loud, looks good, comes with spark arrestor, they offer quite inserts for em, and he says he feels some more power. Dg reccomended going to a 150 main from the stock 145. Did that and jetting was spot on, for my altitude atleast. Just about every system out there is good for the warriors. Just depends on how much money you want to spend. Awesome bike. When it comes to gettin **** for free, quads and beer are best!

between free beer and free quads, im happy with the latter. appreciate the help 175 for the header/muffler is definitely in my range.

im sure ill be trolled outta the intro thread, but since i have you all here. my coil over shocks have white bros racing covers. did white bros really make these or just the covers?

No prob. I've been really pleased with my dg as well as my friends. For the casual rider, weekend warrior (no pun intended) you can't go wrong. Mine is an aluminum unit. Was $195 when I bought it.
