I have a 97 warrior that will start up great when it cold but once warmed up won't start. It will bump start and stay running until i turn it off then you have to bump it again to get it running. I do have leak in the base gasket. I have checked the stator and everything is fine. I pulled the plug when hot and the plug was bone dry. The carb was just rebuilt and the valves where just adjusted. Also the fuel filter was just replaced. Please help.

I've had my 87 for about 16 years and it has always been harder to start when the engine is really hot. I've always assumed that the starter itself does not work well when it's hot.

What do you mean youve checked the stator? Ohmed it or something else. If you have or havent ohmed it your gonna need to do it hot(when you are having the issue) and cold. Ill bet the pickup coil is going out of spec when its hot, dead give away for me is you can still bump start it. Almost any other issues would not let you bump start hot!

Ohmed out the stator cold having done it not yet. Will try that next thanks

See my pickup coil is doing the opposite and doesn't want to start cold but starts fine warm! Crazy electrical crap! But my bet also is on the pickup coil if the battery is staying charged...

Same Principle Though, Your Pickup Is Shorted Internally So The Resistance Is Lower. It Heats Up And Gets Inspect. Ill Bet If You OhM It Cold Its Below Spec.

It is. Thats why I have a new one and a timing chain while I am in there for it too :)
