Not only does it depend on your compression ratio, but, on your cam profile as well. A cam with more duration and valve overlap will "lower" an engine's dynamic compression (while running) and thus helps to make pump gas more usable. You can also install thicker then stock head and/or base gaskets to lower the compression ratio, to more pump gas friendly numbers.
