Me and my friend were talking about getting ready for racing season today. I need to make my warrior faster to run with the 450's and the modded 400's. I told him about my plan to do the CWR 460 stroker and it lead to interesting conversation of making a hybrid. We both know that heavily modified engines are less reliable and need more maintenance due to the fact that this kit puts the warrior to its limits. So we were wondering if it would be worth it and how hard it would be to put either a yzf426 or yzf450 dirtbike in the warrior frame. This way I have a reliable and fast motor, and can mod it without spending tons of money. I know I would need to send it out to get the frame modified and stuff like that, but is it worth doing this or just do the 460 stroker. I would like some answers because I'm seriously thinking about doing this.

it would outrun a 446 but hard to do, it would be sweet to try though, plus you could have liquid cooling

Yea I know it would be fast. ANd having liquid cooling is always a plus. I can get my hands on a yzf426 motor and all the parts needed to make it work for $500. Its off my friends woods racing bike which has a bent frame. It has a port and polish, high comp piston, cam, lightened flywheel, and titanium valve set. I know it will take alot work. I woould probably send the frame out to lonestar or custom frame company to mak the motor fit and get it aligned right. Then putting the radiator in and get a custom exhaust built. Another question is how much would something like this cost?

It can be done, and although it'll outrun a 446 or 460 those YZ motors lack bottom end pretty bad (there screamers) ala Banshee. So if your looking MX then the YZ motor will suit your needs but then the chassis becomes the issue as this quad was never designed with MX in mind. If your talking XC then a motor with more torque like the 446 is a way better choice. But the chassis still becomes an issue. BTW it'll cost you about as much just to buy one of those motors as it will a 446, then take into consideration the higher maintence on those motors as the 450 calls for rebuilds every 50hrs of racing. If your looking to get into racing buy a quad ment for it dude you'll be happier in the long run.

Well I race flat track so the chassis wont be getting alot of abuse. And the motor will be high revving alot due to the fact that flat track is fast paced. And I want to keep this quad and I dont plan on getting another quad for 2-3 years and when I do I'm still keeping this one. And price wise, you mean it would cost $1500-$2000 for all the work to be done?

And also how reliable will the 460 be and how much maintenance will it need. also what kinds of top speed(estimates) with the 460 and the 426 with a 15t frony and 38t rear.

its been done with a yz 426. when i had my warrior i was also thinking about doing the same i even has a motor lned up and everything but decided to back out. If you can get the motor for 500 by all means buy it even if you don't use the motor you can turn and resell it and make some good money. I say go for it. there going to be people telling you that its stupid bad idea yada yada don't listen if you think its a good idea and fell you can do it be orginal and do.\

Is there any way possible that there is still a website or something I can see this warrior with the 426 or something of that sort

The only warrior with a 426 that i ever saw was on ebay..he tried selling it as a whole and that didnt work so he parted everything out..if you talk to teamexile he might be able to give you his email..he bought the a arms off the guys warrior..so might be able to email and ask if he has any pics

Yes as dave stated every 40 hours on a yzf engines they recomend inspecting and servicing the top end. Also remember that most quad engines in compared to dirt bikes have different trannys that can take more torque and abuse. I think the biggest thing is getting the liquid cooling, electrcal, and how to actually mount it into the frame is going to take a ass load of work to have something nice and by the time you do all that you might as well have bought something with that motor as you'll have the frame/suspension to go with it.
Any engine you push to the limit like this you will have more maintance.. just more heat and enegry putting stress on everything.
IMO I think it would cost way more then $2000 for this type of setup after all said and done.
The the 446cc or 460cc you'll have more torque then the rest of the 450's and you'll have to gear your bike faster to make up for that so you don't rev the nutts out of it.

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to stick with getting the 460 and gear it up to a 15t front and 38t rear.
