i have a 2002 warrior with fmf powercore4 and power bomb header an k&n air filter and cdi box.. i am running stock jets should i jet my carb? if so whats size jets? Thanks!

Go one up on the main and try one up on the pilot, if its still **** then got another up as well. While your in there, do the accl. pump spring mod too for safe measure.

What is the accl pump spring mod? And im thinking we need to star a thread that deals only with the right size jets and this kind of stuff. I bet we have over 100 threads about carb jetting. And make it a sticky thread or whatever where it will stay at the top of the general board or wherever we want to put it.

It would be in the tutorial section.

Take the spring outta a pen and swap in place of the stock spring that's in the accel. pump. If you do it, take pictures and with up the how to. Ill make it a sticky then.

haha has any one else done it? cuz i dont exactly want to be the test subject ill prolly end up screwing it up somehow lol But im fixing to have to take the carb apart and clean it anyways.

Dang how have i not heard of this then? And what is the advantage of it?

If your smart and still have a stock carb then yeah, you've done it or should of by now.

Alright when i clean my carb out im doing it. What is the advantage of it? What does it do?

It pops the accl plunger up better and quicker. the accel pump on the stock manuki carbs is know to get stuck down or not to come back up all the way just from the design and the float bowl gasket. A lot of people complain about throttle response, that mod will deff. help with it.

i tried this.. and i found myself in a spiral of doubt.. hate to thread jack but since were on the subject..

the spring in the carb from factory is about as thick as a pubic hair.. the spring in a pen is much thicker..

the spring in the pen is also longer.. also different pens have different size springs..

I know we want the rebound to be faster but taking it a step further....should i try to maintain the same plunger travel or do i want the plunger to be higher or lower? a thicker spring has less downward travel due to the coiling of the heavier spring, but better rebound..

this is when i decided to stick w the stock spring until i could figure it out..

Thats funny how this a mod. i lost my spring on my deck and grabbed a pen to replace it, it came natural(magiver smoker). This happened years ago when i first rebuilt my carb. technically my 1st mod haha

Alright sweet deal im going to go have sex with 3 other men in my trailer park now.

I think you're really overthinking this dude, it's not rocket science, it's a spring! Push it down, release, it goes BOING, that's all there is to it. The stock pubic hair of a spring doesn't have enough boing to it, and in this case, the more boing the better. Basically the weak stock one is only strong enough if everything is perfect, shiny and new. Once these things get a few years on them parts just aren't going to move as smoothly as they used to, it's a fact of life. The stiffer spring just helps overcome the extra friction so the plunger returns to it's full upright position with the tray tables latched. If you are instructed, please move to the nearest exits... wait nevermind that last bit. Just find a pen spring that's about the same length as the stock one, stretch it out a little if need be, it'll still work. Making it longer or shorter than the stock one isn't going to affect the way the accelerator pump functions, you want the plunger to have it's full travel. The plunger only gets pushed down an eighth of an inch so there's no need to worry about the spring limiting travel or whatever it was you were concerned about.
