so i bought an ignition switch for a 2002 warrior, to replace my 2000 warrior key switch (previous owner lost key).

the 2002 switch only has the brown and red wire, but the one on my bike has a red and brown, along with a black and a black/white wire. the black (im assuming) is a ground, and the black/white goes to the handlebar switch and then to the CDI box.

is there any way to wire the new switch that i have to the harness? or do i need to keep looking for a 4-wire switch?

ok, with the black and white still hooked up to the old switch, and the red/brown hooked up to the new switch, when they both are turned on, it will crank. when one of them is turned off, either one, it will not turn over or start.

so obviously, the black and the black and white wires are connected when the switch is turned on, so could i wire them through a toggle switch mounted somewhere?

this is kind of a get it done on a budget project. and i got the switch for the cheep. i know, i usually hate on people that WANT to use the wrong part, but i got it. i did hook up a toggle switch, and its working fine.

I got one that I thought would work once and here is how to make it work. Take your old key switch and use a big flathead screwdriver, shove it in the key slot and bust it out, pull the whole tumbler part out. next take your new switch and carefully cut the side of the key switch ( I used a hacksaw blade), take the complete tumbler assembly and push it into your old key switch, it will snap in place and you are good to go
