Alright, now I know there is no exact answer anyone can give me, and the subject has probably been beaten to death throughout the forum, but I need a ballpark figure on a main jet. Im looking to see what some of you guys more modded warriors are running for jets. Mine has a 366 big bore with 10.5:1, white brothers exhaust, K&N, open airbox, web cam and ported and polished head, and some aftermarket red cdi unit. Ive done nothing to it, this is how I got it, but did a tear down and replaced alot of seals/gaskets, and paint work, chain & sprockets etc, and threw the carb in my ultrasonic cleaner just cause it was easily accessable and figured it wouldnt hurt, anyways I see it only has a 150 in it for a main, seems kinda small to me but maybe its not, not sure on the pilot, never took it out, also for what its worth Im at 600 ft elevation. Anyone running bigger jets, or do you think this one is close, I havent ridden it yet, just want everything done before I put it back together.

?hahahahha, so what exactly is your question man? First off, post in the right sections, Secondly, if you haven't ran the bike yet how do you know that it needs messed with? They say, if it ant broke, don't fix it. Now, all that being said, run it, ride it, and if you have a specific problem, come back and then we can evaluate.

Sorry for the haste reply, but yes the whole jetting thing HAS been a every other post topic it seems. There is enough threads about jetting on here to make a small phone book sized collection of remarks. Oh and welcome to the site!

you totally missed the point, I didnt ask for a if it aint broke dont fix it answer, what Im asking is since the quad is apart and the carb is on my workbench, before I put it back on the bike does a 150 seem small, it does to me, so Im asking for anyone on here with a relatively similar build to let me know what they are running for jets, dont quote me but I want to say I read that a 145 was stock so for whats done to the quad a 150 seems small, if its not then great I'll leave it, but if someone replies back "hey I have a similar build and I had to run a 170 before it wasnt lean anymore" then I would like to know so I can get an arrangement of jets around that area to try

thats a pretty low elevation...i would think it would need a size or two bigger, but every build is different and its hard to say, im at a higher elevation and i used to run a 150 with an open airbox and it ran fine, now im using dyno jets though...

150 sounds like it's in the right ballpark to me as long as it's running right. That build could run right with a 140 or a 165 too or anything in between depending on the temperature, time of day, what your zodiac sign is, and a million other variables. As you already know (as you exhibited when you posted this question), jetting is not an exact science and every build requires different jetting. Just ride the damn thing and use your own judgement based on how it runs. It really doesn't make any sense at all to rejet a machine without checking how it runs, the rejetting process always needs to start with running it through the gears and different throttle positions. Otherwise you're just taking shots in the dark at it.

Don't worry about saving taking the carb off one time, it takes about the same amount of time you spent posting up this question and reading the responses to take the carb apart and change the jet if you ride it and feel like it's wrong. You're going to have infinitely better judgement riding it one time than anybody hundreds of miles away sitting at a computer is going to have.
